Had problems with my VW sunroof, did not want to slide open (it still opened up/down) what seem to be stuck. Took it to VW dealer (Silver Oaks Crossing) and booked for diagnosis/quote and possible repair. The car was in for over 4 working days 7 including weekend, From Thursday to next Wednesday. By Tuesday afternoon got call from Jaco that they are almost finished and problem found - some loose wires blocking movement on track. By Wednesday morning got same call again, but told my sunroof motor was burnt out and this cause of problem. They would order new motor and total cost for part and labour would be about R5700. I got suspicious as their story changed from one afternoon to the morning. Took my car for second opinion and inspection, in less than hour, without having to open my car inside panels, without replacing motors etc ... basically by actually looking at the roof, and removing something that was causing obstruction, the problem was fixed and it only cost me service time. The cleaned and inspected my drainage system and picked up problem with one pipe as well and quickly fixed the pipe (total cost R800) I then confronted the dealer why they said its the motor and wanted to charge me over R5700 ? Also they did charge me a diagnostic fee of R680 which I paid. I then wanted to know if they are going to refund me (As they clearly did not do what they charged me for) The refuse to accept responsibility and keep on hiding behind the excuse that they want to open the roof, take out the motor and show me what is wrong ...why would you open something that is working ?? I dont trust them and think they want to try to break the motor as they take it out ... I have all the detail and correspondence here if further info required http://vwcon.yolasite.com
