Wow. Been treated poorly before, working in the Restaurant Industry as I do, but never as badly as this! Mr Fricks (a self-styled "restauranteur", who has never had any hands on experience at all in a kitchen), hired myself and another individual to work as his chefs at The Veranda. Time and time again, over a 3 month period, he would put us "off the schedule" in order to save a few bucks, while the other would work 16 hours a day, 6 days a week...like a dog, only treated to and talked to worse than a dog typically is... Once Mr Fricks had realized that it was physically impossible for one person to meet his constant demands, he finally agreed to hire both of us on as "Chefs" there, to the tune of a "Salary"....cash under the table, no taxes paid, no employment filed, and a wage that came up to FAR less than minimum wage, when hours and labor involved were taken into consideration. After about a month of this labor, both myself and the exec chef arrived at work to find Mr Fricks waiting there, the equipment gone, and the restaurant closed overnight, with no prior notice or warning to his employees. His smug explanation? "I'm not making money...Good luck fellas". No offer of severance. No explanation as to why this was done behind our backs, no real apology for leaving us hanging literally overnight...just "goodbye"....did I mention that Mr Fricks, who (as he says) "knows all the ins and outs of a restaurant" did this shady, underhanded move when said restaurant had been open for 7 months, and was receiving very positive reviews? Be warned...Mr Fricks plans to open another establishment. Don't spend your money there, Nashville. Who knows where its going from there? It sure isn't to his employees. Oh, and Mr Fricks also is a name in the Music Industry...where I am sure he has scammed and ripped off a number of aspiring musicians...dont let that be you as well. Best of luck, Wayne Fricks.
