I purchased 500 USD from wells fargo of american express travelers checks also spelled American Express travelers CHEQUES
I went overseas. The checks were lost.Last I saw them was in my suitcase. I came back. I called amex. They gave me the run around for 5 months. Then they had me fill out 15 pages of 'refund paperwork'Then they said ' we are investigating you ' So, they refuse to refund me 500 usd And they claim 'same as cash' - and i believe its illegal to substitute real american currency for 'american express checks' So I am out 500 usd thanks to their refusal to refund. It has now been 8 months.

I run a retail business and have just received 9 chargeback letters from american express. ALL from the same person, same card, ALL within one statement cycle. This customer has never been in my store and I have no receipts or cc print-outs for this person. Has anyone ever heard of any type of refund fraud affecting retail businesses? Meaning money being taken out of my account as a refund to a person I have never sold too. Anyone? Thanks
