West Bay Acquisitions, LLC Collection Notice without validity Internet

I received a notice from West Bay Acquisitions, LLC out of Cranston, RI indicating that I owed $47.90 for late notices for movies rented at Hollywood Video. With Hollywood Video long out of business it makes it hard to dispute, but the business had a practice of not renting additional movies until late fees were paid on other rentals. I don't like the idea of having something on my very clean credit report saying I owe money. However, I feel like this is extortion so I'm not going to pay it.

I received the same thing! But you don't think that this is going to effect my credit?

I got the SAME EXACT THING which is funny because I was paying for the "Unlimited Rentals with no Late Fees" plan. Now two full years later after they closed their stores in our area I get a random letter from West Bay Acquisitions for $80.07 of late fees for movies and games rented between April and December of 2009.

...Again good luck renting from Hollywood Video WHILE you've got a late fee. (Because they wouldnt then, and still don't now)

Luckily I also still have every bank statement from the account they were actually overcharing me on all year long. So I will be trying my hardest to get it to the California Attorney Generals office tomorrow, and have requested a copy of my credit report to see if its on there as well.

If you are experiencing the same please contact the FTC and your states Attorney General. Make someone pay attention to this idiot of a company.
