www.boardshortsworld.com is an Internet retailer of USA-made boardshorts and beachwear capris and similar garments. The company is not accessible by phone, but only e-mail or fax. Orders placed on the Internet are charged to the customer's credit card the day the order is placed. The product itself does not ship for up to 7 business days after the credit card is charged and is not received by the customer for up to 12 business days shipping to a USA address. Products returned to www.boardshortsworld.com are not credited back to the customer's credit card for up to 15 business days even when the product itself has been in the retailer's possession for at least 10 of those business days. Unlike competitive Internet-based retailers who do not charge the customer until the product actually ships, www.boardshortsworld.com takes immediate of possession of the consumer's funds, delays delivery of product, and holds customer's funds hostage longer, though they have received the product back in to their possession well before they post a refund. |

I disagree. I have bought from www.boardshortsworld.com (almost) every year since they started selling online in 2005. I found their website on a label sewn inside a pair of boardshorts I bought at a surf shop in San Diego in 1999 when I was on a surf trip there. Those shorts still look new (like 12 years later?!). We have bought various items as gifts for family and friends and know for a fact that their returns and refunds are handled in a reasonable timeframe. Would definitely recommend www.boardshortsworld.com as they are (to my knowledge) the only store in this county dedicated to selling only boardshorts made in the USA (California). And I think that is really important. |

I sent an email to boardshortsworld.com as you cannot reach them by phone. I purchased a pair of boardshorts that was sized too small July 7. I returned them immediately with the tags on and a copy of the purchase order. No refund and no response to my e-mail. I will be sending a letter soon to the Better Business Bureau. Very unprofessional company. Why list a phone number when you cannot leave a voice mail, and there is no one to answer the phone? |

I wish I would have read these prior to ordering my shorts. I ordered one pair of custom board shorts Monday, July 9th, at 7 a.m. I paid $146.50 for ONE pair of shorts but figure it is worth it if they are to my specification. I paid a LOT of money to get them sewn in 3 business days and then paid extra shipping so I'd have them for my trip.
I wrote them this morning and just sent a second email (after I called and got the vm saying you can't leave a message) and I am praying these shorts get here in time.
Will update after I hear from them...I sure hope I have good news!!! |

So frustrated working with BoardShorts and will be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau, as well as any other sources to spread the word. Ordered 6 pairs of shorts and accordining to to "EZ Return" link on their website:

For a hassle-free return or exchange, simply return your merchandise (for any reason) to us within:
* 30 days of our ship date (US & Canada addresses)
No where on this link does it say if I order 6 or more items that I can only receive a store credit vs. refund! In fact several places on their site they say the reference their EZ return policy. It is not until I place the order that they mention in a mumble jumble way that I can't get a refund.
Also, they charged by credit card the minute I placed the order vs. when the merchandise was shipped (like most internet merchants do).
There are many places to order boardshorts - Boardshortsworld should NOT be one of them!!! |
