www.saferwholesale.com www.legionglobal.net Misrepresented discount, did not show final total, refused to cancel order w/o 30% fee even within 1 hour

Date: 11/25/11 (Black Friday) just after 10pm via www.saferwholesale.com. The purchase was for a "High Quality Kids Electric ATV 4 Wheeler". The sale price for the day was 497.95 and I entered a coupon code for $20 off on delivery. Additionally the website stated "Purchase using ELECTRONIC ONLINE CHECK and receive up to $50 off!!!". It stated the discount did not apply to some items and listed a few. So I proceeded to checkout... expecting to see what the final sales tax, delivery fees, and whether the electronic online check rebate applied to my purchase. Under the payment information section the website stated "Use the dropdown menu and select "electronic check" to receive up to a $50 discount! It was still vague as to whether it applied to my order or not but clearly stated "If a discount applies to your order, it will be reflected once order is confirmed." I proceeded to "Place Order" expecting a total with confirmation of taxes, fees, and particularly if the rebate applied... fully expecting a final submit/confirm order stage. I never expected the website to just say ok its done without showing me whether the rebate even applied to me... it was intentionally vague and deceptive and never showed full financial disclosure for the order. When I opened the receipt and saw the 50$ discount was not included, it was a deal breaker for me as I only wanted to pay $430 for the electric kid ATV. I immediately called the company (1-866-606-3991) and spoke to a representative about why the $50 discount was not received. Eventually the person told me the discount only applied to orders over $2000.00 (no where was this mentioned on the website). In fact here is what the website stated "*Note: Discounts do not apply to all orders. For example the following are dome of the items it does not apply to: Exercise Equipment, NetBooks, E-Saver Systems, Heaters, or Helmets.*". The crime/problem is there was no final screen showing the final total including discounts... saferwholesale.com expects you to look at the receipt and then learn the total. I requested the order be cancelled (this was within the hour of submitting the order). I was told the order could not be cancelled ("What cancel over 50 bucks?" was the initial unprofessional reply). After reviewing the website again, I called back and spoke to Jeff (no last name or sales associate number was available) and again requested the order be cancelled. He said it was not possible as they had already processed the order and if I wanted to pursue this course I could call back Monday and I would face a 30% restocking fee since I had checked the terms and conditions box. After hanging up I went back and re-read the term and conditions and it states that orders "typically cannot be cancelled. Any Cancellation to an order after the original sale date will automatically incur 30% restocking/cancellation fee plus any shipping charges incurred. Please call ahead of time before cancelling...". Well since it had been less than an 1.5 hours since the order was placed, I called back and explained the policy indicates I need to cancel immediately to avoid the 30% fee. I was told too bad we have no authority to cancel, its late Friday and we aren't customer service so call back Monday and pay the fee. After trying to explain the situation and granted I am quite frustrated at this point, Jeff hung up on me. I had also asked Jeff to change the color of the bike from blue to orange as I had not seen that option (and if I was going to be stuck I wanted orange... he said he would but going back to the order it still says blue). The website does have a cancel order option but it just says the order is already processed no changes are possible. Earlier that day I had spoke with a sales rep. named Mark and explained I expected to get the 50$ discount and asked if it were only available if I did the purchase online (rather than by phone). Mark hymn hawed about but finally said yes... now I know why. Basically the website is intentionally deceptive, the sales personnel are unhelpful, rude, and untrustworthy. Avoid this company at all costs.
