23629472 Subject: My "WYNDHAM EXPERIENCE" Dear Sir: A relative, member of Wyndham Club, gave my name to Wyndham and I was approached by your company and
SOLD a 'Wyndham Experience' package. Having heard positive feedback from my relative I bought the Vacation Getaway to Myrtle Beach, SC package- a "4 days 3 nights at the Bay Watch Beach Resort, Courtyard by Marriot, or comparable.....". Upon confirming the above vacation reservations, my written confirmation said this: "COUNT ON ME! At WyndhamVacation Resorts we strive to exceed our guests' expectations. As part of our Count on Me initiative, we promise to be responsive to your needs, to be respectful in every way, and to deliver a great experience. Upon ...." First off this was a 4 day 3 night visit.....how can it be called that if check-in is after 4 pm and check-out is before 10 am and there are no resort facilities where we were lodged? And, now for my actual "wyndham experience" at Myrtle Beach: 1. Our confirmed reservation was at Barefoot Golf Villas but the accomodation given was at River Crossing Condominiums (a privately owned condominium) about 2 miles from the beach. We had been told we would be on or close to the beach in a resort. This was not a resort since there were no resort facilities except for a tiny pool (which even a flea bag motel
provides). We were assigned a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. 2. At the time of picking up our keys they charged us up front a combined charge for taxes, fees, etc which they charged in a lump sum and refused to break down into their components. 3. The only written instructions given there were
- If you need towels wash them yourself in the condo washer-dryer (go out to buy detergent first). - when you leave make sure you take out all the garbage to the dumpster or you will be Charged extra
- before leaving start dishwasher with the dirty dishes inside 4. When we reached the condo this is what we found - filthy stained carpets throughout - peeling wallpaper - not a single hanger or hook anywhere to hang clothes - the single hook in the bathroom broken - one bathroom locked, inaccessible - one toilet roll for 4 people for 3 days - peeling non-stick pots and pans in horrible state whereby anybody using them would get sick - crawling spiders - Both lamps in the living area had no bulbs and one had the switch broken/missing - no local telephone directory (most out of town vacationers expect to see one. - no information on resort amenities (there were none) or anything at all Later on, we were told by the maintenance person "these condos are in bad shape and are awaiting complete renovations". 5. The next afternoon we went to your out-sourced Beach Vacations office and complained about all the above. Their response "Wyndham has been told this is what we provide and they approved it. If you have any complaints file them with Wyndham". When we complained about the lack of 'resort facilities' we were told "there is the pool (tiny one) and
an exercise facility you can pay extra to use". When we asked about the extra charges besides the state tax, they said "those are maintenance fees'. Don't the condo owners pay the condo maintenance fees? We were being double charged? When I asked them to break down the total charges into their individual components they refused to do so. That night, however, they did unlock the second bathroom. When we reached the Wyndham office for our tour we told them about our experience but the staff acknowledged that they have been receiving similar complaints from others but there was little they could do. Already in a bad mood from all the above, the presentation tour took 3 hours instead of the 2 hours stated; to top off our experience my box lunch was stolen while I took the tour. Luckily my wife had eaten hers before we took the tour. By the way, at the prices quoted for one week timeshare one might think Wyndham could afford a hot lunch. Thank you for the tour and the "Wyndham Experience". I would have been better off without it and I will let my relative know about my experience.
