Please just add me to the long list of dissatisfied talented writers who not knowing took the Xlibris plunge. In comparison to many of you who lost money on a hope and a prayer, my losses didnt exceed $2,000. The sales person I had was worse than the cats who played in the Godfather, both one and two. As noted before there were multiple people I had to deal with. As of today, Im up to seven. Most of you talked about corrections. I do agree with Dianne, you must read the manuscript in its entirety. There were problems I found after reviewing the proofs that werent there before which blew my mind, to say the least. Im currently up to my third set of corrections. They typically make some but not all of them. The word Publisher in my opinion defines an entity that has mastery over the written word with grammatical changes being at the top. Im at the final phase, meaning I can follow thru and allow them to finish or I can humbly dropped out. And begin this process with someone different. There will be no agreement signed by me ?Okaying their work when I see errors. In conclusion, the properly trained customer service representatives for lack of a better word were very attentive to me by returning my calls or emails up until the final payment was made. After that it was a rap. I stand to have High Tea with the Obamas first before my Author representative personally returns my calls. Each time I attempt Im forwarded to a different person. The excuses they give me as to why I havent heard back from her are priceless. Shes on the phone with a new author. Poor sucker Im her assistant and will follow thru with the person assigned to do your corrections. And the most recent one, Your author representative is on vacation.
