8x8 Packet 8, Packet 8 SUCKS!!! Sunnyvale, California

I have had Packet 8 service for five years. I have had continual problems since day one and will call in to tech support to get assistance but usually give up because the call takes forever and when you finally get through the tech is unqualified to fix the problem and has a set of canned responses. Why have I stayed with Packet 8 for 5 years?---because the one area they excel in is automatically charging my credit monthly and annually for the next year's service. I am invariably traveling or forget the date to cancel and am reminded each time when I try to use the phone and calls do not go through, no one on a cell phone can reach me, or for no reason at all I cannot dial out for hours a a time.

For the last few months I have contacted their tech support and the techs are of the opinion that a piece of Packet 8 supplied hardware is the root cause of my problems and needs to be replaced. I have contacted their support on three occasions now to get the piece of hardware and I have been told that I can only receive it if I pay an additional $80 plus shipping and handling. This is the most outrageous service I have ever received, not only do they not provide the service I have paid for but they then add insult to injury by charging the customer to fix their system problem. Interestingly, if you start a new account with Packet 8 they provide the hardware in question for free. It is obvious that they value new customers (suckers) more than they value existing customers. That is why I believe that PACKET 8 SUCKS!!! and i will remember to cancel my service as soon as the contract is up.
