On July 1st I got my security system renewed when I bought my home. I was charged a small service fee when signing the 3-year contract. They had someone come out and put in a new battery to get the system working again. When the worker was finished, he asked if had a home phone. We told him that we had a phone with Comcast. He got visibly flustered and said, "Well, I will leave this as is and you guys can practice with it. Comcast has to come out here and fix the home phone; that's their issue." Of course, Comcast wanted them to do it. Between the two of them, we were running around in circles. Also, no one ever mentioned the idea of a cell back-up... which would have worked. Finally, I just gave up. I wasn't receiving any bills, phone calls, or services for 6 months. Nor was I being monitored by the security system.

When I was ready to get a 'system take over' by ADT itself rather than Absolute (the "ADT authorized dealer"), I got a bill in the mail from Absolute Protection Team for $1303.18, to pay for the three years of service. They wrote in the letter that they have made several attempts at making contact with me. Which they hadn't. Naturally, I called the company in question of this ridiculous bill. They said I can keep the contract and pay $33.?? a month (which will be $1303.18 for 3 yrs.) or pay the bill of $1303.18 to cancel the service (...what service?!). I told them that I canceled Comcast and had no home phone. So now, they say I will be charged extra by them as well as a $14 fee from my cell phone service provider to use my cell phone. All in all, I am very stuck. They say they will send me to court if I don't pay the bill.
