Adapt Language Services Juliette Dinh
The company doesn't pay translators for their work
4th of Dec, 2011 by wordsmith
Adapt Language Services (aka Adapt Linguistic Services) is a scam company. Juliette Dinh (Jerome Ferreira is the accountant) uses the same trick to cheat translators: they outsource an urgent translation project, offer a ridiculously low price. If the translator refuses, as I did, they quickly agree to a higher price—twice as much in my case. The translator completes the work. They accuse him of submitting substandard work and never pay. I have translated for 20 years and have several publications. I am now paying for the mistake of not googling the name Juliette Dinh earlier. I would have seen how many others she had cheated... Translators, watch out.

On 9/27/2011 Eugene Alper has provided us with a VERY POOR TRANSLATION which has been proofread and edited by another translator. Our proofreader has made changes ALMOST EVERYWHERE which was marked in RED and as she could
see, nearly the whole translation needed to be re-done. The work she provided needed a COMPLETE RE-TRANSLATION and we suspect she has used GOOGLE TRANSLATION or some kind of software.

After we send her translation back proofread and edited, we have asked her to comment on those errors but she refused to do so and ignore our request.

Hence, we have requested a 50% discount on the project she translated since only half translated file was usable.

As specified in our contractual agreement with her: “we request our translator to meet reasonable commercial standards for professional human translation (i.e. human translation by a bilingual translator with reasonable skill in translating the concepts and terminology of industry-specific text).

We reserves the right to reject any materials that does not meet reasonable quality standard and the deliverable needs a complete re-translation and/or unusable. In this case, ALS will withhold payment and will not use content.”

Adapt has always paid its translators and it is the first time that we receive SUCH FALSE ACCUSATION. This is the first time that we have used Eugene Alper for a translation project and we did not expect such poor quality translation.

Adapt still have the intention to pay Eugene Alper for half the translated work we were able to use. We are still waiting for her revised invoice at this point.

Juliette
