Alamo Car Rental Deceptive Billing Practices Fort Lauderdale , Florida

After reading these reports I now realize that Alamo is running a Fraud. I went through Priceline.com to rent a Mini Van. I negotiated for $351.48 for an 8 day rental ($30 a day plus processing fee) to drive my daughter to college in Tallahassee from Fort Lauderdale. When I went to the counter at Alamo I was asked how many people would be traveling with me, I responded that 7 people would be in the van. The rep told me that we would be more comfortable in a Suburban and that it would cost me $35 per day instead of $30 per day. I said that would be great and agreed to upgrade. When I returned the suburban I was charged $326.48. When I checked my bank account I noticed that I had also been charged by Priceline. So the multitude of phone calls began. At the end Alamo states that its charging me $35 a day in addition to what Priceline charged me. Never was that explained nor is it on the contract- and the rep specifically said, "an extra $5 per day" I spoke to Luis Cavali (manager) at the Alamo at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport who told me that if I contacted the corporate office I would not get anything refunded. Why would I pay double to fit the same amount of people with no luggage in a Suburban. I thought I was getting a great deal by paying an extra $5 per day. Instead I got the Scam of the century. For a single mom on a tight budget this is no small price to pay. It hits hard!!!
