American Healthcare Plans, Inc Tim Johnson Misrepresentation of product and failure to refund when cancelled Ft Lauderdale, Florida

March, 2011 contacted by Tim Johnson, direct line 954-514-9287, and associated numbers 954-779-6091, 877-209-0065,877-509-8366. When you call these numbers they answer Health Enrollment Center, later found out they are registered as American Healthcare Plans, Inc and E Healthcare, individuals listed with BBB & other agencies are Steven Dorfman, Rod Marks, Spiegel & Utrera, P.A. Current address is in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. After discussing underwriting information was told that he had a Medical Savings Plan which was to be a PPO, no deductible, no copay, no waiting period. Covers doctors visits, diagnostics, include a prescription card, free vision & dental, medical, surgical at 70/30 coinsurance for doctors visits. The example he gave was a $100 doctor bill would be $30 for me. The premium would be $198 with a 5 year price lock and there would be a $99 enrollment fee. Specifically I asked if this was a discount plan and was told that it is not, asked whether there was any problem with getting it in Oregon and moving to Arizona was told no problem, asking if he was licensed in both states was told yes. Was told that I could review it and cancel within 30 days for a refund. The plan name Optum Health, an A rated company. When asking about a website was given Multiplan.com to look at the providers that accept this plan. After signing up and stating a 4-1-11 effective date I found a $297 payment auto deducted on March 24. Later found no registration with FL BBB for Health Enrollment Center, other two names have "F" and 17 combined complaints (16/1) with no response from Jan-May 2011. Mid April got plan info comes from Partners In Health Care/Tri-Resource Corp/Allied Veterans Advisors in Wisconsin, phone #920-968-0574 & 866-779-0054 but goes through yet other companies Heathcare Mediation & others not named. Found it is a Health Care Mediation Plan, discounts range from 20-60%. On 4-21-11 cancelled the plan with H.E.C. as what was sold to me was not what I received, have not received a refund. Several attempts to in May 2011 to check the status of refund. Sharon (got her 3 times in a row) on the first call said she would research & call me;2nd time that I was eligible but would have Alan call me as she did not know why it hadn't been issued;3rd time after asking all the info again said it looks like I am eligible for a refund, but did not see anything on the computer showing a refund issued. Finally saying either I was eligible or not and she could not help me & she was going to hang up. To her credit, she did not hang up on me. Asked the name of the owner, Alan, she wouldn't tell me even though I said I could find it online (go ahead). Tried to get help from Partners in Health Care, while they seemed to be helpful and empathatic, even finally receiving a phone call from the President Gary Kieper after 3 requests and an email to him advising I was going to file complaints and would have to mention his company also as all the paperwork came from him including the written provision for refund. He said he would look into and get back to me that Friday (talked to him Wednesday 6-1-11). Didn't call me. Have filed a complaint with Florida Dept of Financial Serv 1-850-413-3261 and filing complaints with Oregon Insurance Commissioner (this type of product requires licensing in Oregon) and with every other agency that will take it. Found there are a lot of people who have been having problems, however they had not listed complaints under the phone numbers or name that I was given so when doing a search couldn't find any problems. Advise all who have a problem to report to as many agencies as you can & post online to warn others.

I am going through the exact same thing right now. "Tim" told me the exact same thing. They did hang up on me though and put me on hold for literally 30 min, obviously not planning to answer. I heard laughing and tv in the background. I guess they think it's funny to rip off a pregnant woman that actually works for her money.

I'm getting the exact same problem. They hang up as soon as I tell them I want to cancel. I have called my bank and stopped payment on all future withdrawals. I don't expect to get a refund. These are obviously fraudulent people.

I am having the same exact problem. Closing out my accounts ASAP. My agents name was Raymond O"Connor with an 800 number no one answers that is out of India. Original call was from 954-809-3491. What a horrible thing to deceive on...I am determined to get my money as well.

Well, now I don't feel so alone! Going thru the EXACT same thing! Just got off the phone with Gary Kieper who is terrible at customer service! And he's supposed to be a supervisor??? Well, that's what Latia Fink (the girl I spoke with and tried to get to transfer me to him) said. She said he was busy talking on his cell phone and she couldn't transfer me. This was after I just spoke to him and he hung up on me! When I called him a chicken s#$!, he said he'd like to see me say that to his face and started giving me his home address in Wisconsin! Whatever! That is SO professional! I expect that I am out 300 bucks as well! Pieces of crap!!!

Same thing happen to me.Just arrived here from Germany, wanting to get health coverage and my Husband gave his bank information freely..We are out of 600.00 US $.Very angry ANYONE experiencing this kind of fraud has to report it to the Police!!!PLEASE!!!

This is currently happening to me now and its going to STOP. This so called Health Discount Program is a total scam! Stay away from Advantage Discount Health or Partners in Health Care Inc, as they are the same deal, and they are a TOTAL SCAM. They promise you all sorts of discounts and health care service and it takes forever for you to get the information in the mail. They take your credit card info and charge you a start up fee of $125 plus $90 and then proceed to then take out $90 per month from your bank account. I called numerous times to find out information on when I would get my package and everyone I spoke to just got rude, claiming he or she did not knowing anything or tell me they would have someone get back with me, which never happened. Some even claim to be supervisors and say they dont have a boss and that they are the final authority.
I asked for a website where I could get more information and was told that they didn't have one and that I had to just wait for my package of info and member ID to arrive in the mail. After several calls to them and getting nothing but a massive runaround, I received a dental discount card in the mail. Two weeks later a pharmacy discount card arrived, but no no information for me to get in touch with a doctor. I called them again and asked where the health care information was and got passed around AGAIN by people knowing nothing.
Finally, I received a health discount card today in the mail. I called the number on the card to consult a doctor and was told that they do not have any of my information. When I told them who I was and that I wanted to consult a doctor they said they need all my private health history and info, plus my credit card to keep on file in case they need to bill me.
I called Partners in Health inc and asked to speak with the president, Gary Keiper, which I called last week also as I found a website with his name to it. They said he will get back with me. Well he didn't, how surprising. I will be taking this matter further and make sure this scam is reported.
BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!! Dont fall into this trap of deceit and frustration.

I am on the list as well.I applied on line searching for family health care plan.Got them responded to me, explained my request.They gave me the price, paid with my debit card .waited for the policy/card.After 2 months(1st month:$298 x 2 because they made 2 packages, one under my name with 1 kid, another under my wife name with the other kid from which amount $100 are for enrollment fee X 2) in august, and $198 x 2 for the fixed monthly premium in september)I had to cancel over the phone because I found out from my doctor office at the end of august that the card they sent me was only a prescription discount card...
When i called the enrollment center asking for Lissa, the representative who worked the info with me, couldn't get to her...until this second I'm writing this note.
All i know is the Co who deduct my money(as it appears on the back on my check is "American healthcare plan inc".I haven't done any complaint yet...To be continued...

same issue. A agent called me and said he was from United Health Plans. I thought he really form United Health. He sold me the plan called "Partners in health Care". It is fraud. I called them back before the card was active and want to refund the money. But they never return my money. United Health Plans Phone # 1-877-820-4145.
