Before I rented a property with Chris and Angela Arundell i thought other landlords were bad but these people are worse. I rented a property in Surtees Street Bishop Auckland from them which started off well enough, the colours in the house were a bit tacky and the rent was a little on the expensive side but i was happy enough. After a short time Angela Arundell decided that she would turn up early with workmen ad decide to let herself in with keys even though i asked her not to. The jobs that were supposed to be done took a long time to do but this was made worse when they several times arranged for Chris Arundell to go to do the jobs which he had little skill doing but he never turned up to do the jobs and did not notify me to say he would not be coming so i was stuck in all day waiting. When the jobs were done they were sub-standard and the people they hired did not always know what they were doing. My deposit had not been properley recorded with the deposit protection scheme which i am told is a legal practice. I have had none of my bond back as it has been witheld because Angela did not get her own way.
The front room was a dark mushroom colour which she called cream, i painted over it and got more than on e snide comment for doing it when the colour was hideous according to anyone that had gone into it.
when i paid my rent as usual i got no message or calls for a month only to be complained at a month later that it had not arrived so she now wanted the current rent early and the previous which i was not able to do as who actually possesses double the rent. She blamed me for her late mortgage payments, claimed she was poor effectively and barely stopped at saying i was taking the food out of her childrens mouths even though she had never had the rent late and she had several properties in the area.
when i blasted her bank after she had kept saying that it was mine she got her money and blatently called me a liar even though IT WAS HER BANK. i decided to leave because of her attitude on the phone, her rude husband on the phone telling my family to shut up and calling us liars so i put my notice in and said i would be out in exactly a month.
She accepted this and i began to look for somewhere. A week before i moved she wanted to go in to take a personal decorator around baring in mind that she had no money it was rather extravagant. She argued all the way around the house that she had left paint that she had not as she and her husband scrape paint on and off and will not lose a drop of paint.
She made comments without any foundation for them insulting me on cleanliness all the way around and tried to schedule work for when i was still in the house in the middle of moving.
She then tried to push back forward the day i would be out by a day and did not get her way.
I was due to be out on the 9th and she wanted the 8th, she was told that it would be hers midnight on the 9th and she sent her husband over to let himself in at 7 am on the 8th which led to a call to my daughter at 7.18 am with all the f's, swearing galore and general rudeness and snobbiness when i was not due out until midnight even though there was barely anything left in.
she sent rude messages including that her husband would be going in on the night at 8pm whether we were in or not dictating that she wanted the keys before midnight and an address to get me at (i dont think so dear). She has witheld my bond and beware as the house was virtually falling down and chris is a dodgy chartered surveyor and angela is a lecturer, you would noy like her teaching your relative and he doesn't know anything about houses. I was warned not tpo move there as a house of theirs locally had partially clapsed and killed someone. i thought it was untrue at the time but now i believe they're right. DO NOT RENT WITH THESE PEOPLE AND DO NOT HIRE CHRIS ARUNDEL, THEY ARE NOT POSH JUST FAKERS AND YOU SOON SEE THE OTHER SIDE OF THEM, THEY ARE BAD LANDLORDS AND I WILL NEVER EVER TRUST HIM AS A SURVEYOR.
