Unfortunately we made a poor decison to use Brian Jarrett and Apex Constructors, Inc. in Malvern, PA to remodel our home. Our project was delayed and the workmanship that was completed was average, however this is not the reason for my dissatisfaction and post to Ripoff report. I found out towards the end of the job that there was a reason for the delays; Brian could not get his subcontractors to come work on the house because they were owed monies on the project. Brian was not paying the subs during construction. Subs would be changed mid construction or come in from more than 2hrs away because they did not know they may not get paid. Brian's communication to me was awful as I would call him and leave emails/texts and not hear from him for more than a week at a time as my house stoood idle. The house was never fully completed and ultimately two of his subcontractors filed mechanic's liens on my property for a total of more than $45,000. I am also aware of several (more than 5) other subcontractors that he utilized and has not paid, but fortunately for me they did not file a lien on my property. I am currently $10,000 in the hole for legal fees defending the liens in court and do not know how much money I will ultimately lose. I now believe Bian/Apex planned to do this to me and my family from the beginning. They did not offer me a lien waiver at the signing of the contract as many reputable builders will do. This is how they customarily do business. If you are reading this DO NOT do business with this guy. If you are considering using him without a lien waiver you will be very sorry. I can provide more info to those who would like to learn more about how this scam was perpetrated.
