24th of Mar, 2011 by User791676
I bought a used car, asked them to come out and look at it. The car broke down 3 times with the next 30 days.I asked for a refund he called me a liar.
I bought a 2005 Mazda RX 8 on the 25th. Asked them to look at it on the 26th because you only have 3 days to return a car in texas. He came to my house and spent an hour inspecting and test drivng the car. When I asked if everything was okay he did not answer instead he asked for payment. I pulled out my Visa he snatched it and went in his van for another 20 minutes. He came back and said the passenger side rear quarter panel had been previously repaired, I might need new rear tires soon, and the heater was broken. I asked him about the redish colors I saw on the vehicle and in the engine and he said "thats nothing its fine". He gave me a printout of all the sections he looked at. I paid 139.00 dollars.
The car broke on the 29th. When I called the number on my reciept that same day and said that my car had broken down, the man said "we can't predict when a car is going to break down." I took the car to a mechanic and he was nice enough to get it started again for free that same day. 2 weeks later on the 02/16 it broke down again. I had it towed to roger beasley mazda south Angel was my serviceman he said that the whole engine was corroded and a spark plug was bad and it was going to cost 1000.00. Then later he called and said only 266.00 bc the manufacter warranty will coverthe engine but it will take 2 weeks to fix. I paid 266.00 for the spark plug. On 03/09 the car was ready and on the 3/17,9 days later, it broke down again the same way t did before. I took it to roger beasley georgetown and they said the fuel pump was bad and extremely low on compression and it is going to cost 1100.00 and a few days to fix. I called John again today 3/25 and he said the same line "we cant tell you whats going to break down and why did you take so long to call about this problem?" I told him I called before and he said Im lying and he can't do anything for me." I was shocked and said I would like a refund because he services did NOT fulfill their promise. And he just repeated "you waited too long to call us and if you called sooner we could have come to look at it sooner" I said I already have it at a dealership getting repaired because I could lose my job just letting my car sit around and not get repaired as it is my only form of transportation. He laughed and then I heard more laughing from other men like I was on speaker phone and he said " we still cant help you" when I asked for his name he said John Adams like the president. Marie

Auto P. I. Used Car Inspections has been providing professional pre-purchase inspections since 2001. All of our Inspectors are ASE Master Technicians, which is the highest level of expertise in the automotive industry. Our Inspectors are also specialists on Body & Frame (Structural and Non-Structural Analyses). Every Inspector has a minimum of 20 years’ experience on both foreign and domestic vehicles. Auto P. I. does not perform any type of repairs so our Inspectors can be completely unbiased. We perform thousands of pre-purchase inspections each year and have an “A+” rating with the BBB

I’m not sure who “Marie” is but we did perform an inspection for “Yvette Harper”. Ms. Harper contacted Auto P. I. Used Car Inspections on January 25, 2011 requesting a pre-purchase inspection on a 2005 Mazda RX8 with 65, 900 miles. Auto P. I. inspected the vehicle on January 26th and the ASE Certified Master Technician gave her a verbal consultation and a copy of the inspection report.

In March, 2 months after we performed our inspection, Ms. Harper called and said the engine stopped working 3 different times and she took the vehicle to 3 different service garages (including 2 Mazda dealerships) before a technician properly diagnosed an intermittent problem with the electrical fuel pump. I tried to tell Ms. Harper that there is no automotive diagnostic test or equipment that can tell when an electrical component will fail. In fact, it took 3 different repair shops before the fuel pump was diagnosed as the problem.

I sent Ms. Harper a letter explaining what a professional pre-purchase can and cannot tell you. A pre-purchase inspection is not a warranty. It is a snapshot in time of the vehicle’s condition.

Ms. Harper had already purchase the vehicle before we inspected it. She has a classic case of buyer’s remorse since she was not able to have the dealer fix any of the problems that Auto P. I. uncovered in our 600-point inspection.

Two months after we inspected the vehicle, Ms. Harper filed this complaint with the local BBB. After reviewing all documentation, the BBB dismissed her case.
