Auto Tire
Auto Tire Mr. Tire Damage to my 22
13th of Jun, 2011 by User840577
I visited Auto Tire location at 3205 Hampton Avenue St. Louis, MO 63139 on 6-13-2011 for new tires to be mounted on my vehicle (22" rim) and gave them the lock key to get the tires off. I was told that they could fit me in because they were really busy and I could leave my vehicle there. I left my vehicle there and received a call saying to call them. I called and was informed that my lock bold had disintegrated on the last tire that they took off. I asked him how it disintegrated on the last one and did they use the key. I was told by Brad the store manager that it was a cheap piece of metal and it disintegrated and informed Brad the store manager that my rims were not cheap. I informed Brad that I paid a lot of money for my rims and have had no problem in the past with anyone getting them off when they used the key. I immediately went up there and Brad had the biggest attitude and told me that I needed to just buy new lock bolts. I told him that when I bought my vehicle in I had lock bolts and they should replace the one they broke he told me that they would not do that and was being very nasty about the situation. He brought out the bolt and
it was in pieces; because of his nasty attitude I wanted to speak with someone else besides him. He called a Mark Musket who told me he was from Marketing and then turned away and told him whatever then when I spoke with Mark he tries to tell me the same thing that Brad said I explained to Mark that I have had NO problems in the past with my tires and how do I know that they did not try to take the lock off the zip gun thing and break it. I also told Mark that my rims were not cheap and for him (Brad) to tell me thats the reason it broke was unacceptable. Then Mark began telling me no one said it was cheap thats not what they are saying I told him that this is exactly what Brad said and Braid is sitting there rolling his eyes and getting frustrated. So Mark begins saying that Brad did not mean they were cheap and trying to cover for the bull that Brad had been saying. Mark kept saying that they could work something out but they would not take responsibility for what they did. I informed him that I believe they were rushing and not paying attention on this bolt and used the wrong tool to get it off which resulted in them breaking
it. After not getting any results with Mark and Brad I called the Police to document that my property had been damaged and I was not allowing them to do anything but give me my vehicle back. They put the tires back on and when I left there was only one lock bolt broken and the other locks were okay to put on and off. I took my vehicle straight to Andy Wurm at 201 South Florissant Road Ferguson, MO 63135 and they looked at my vehicle and the damage that was done to my lock. I was told by two different mechanics there that they must have used an air compressor or something to try and get it off when they should have done it by hand. They also pointed out that the way the pieces are it looks like they had some type of chisel on it to get it off. I was also told that the key itself had been under so much torque that it had a crack in it. They also informed me that the front drivers wheel lock had been over torque to the point that I need it to be removed with a torch and this would discolor my rim. They also told me to take my vehicle back to Auto Tire to get the bolt off because they are the ones that put the lock bolt back on and it was extremely too tight. I believe this was done intentionally because I did not want them to work on my vehicle at this Auto Tire location and Brad had a very bad attitude about me speaking with Mark. It is not a coincidence that Auto Tire was able to get these three off then when I take it to someone else the same one they put on is now over torque to the point that it has to be torched off. Which also makes me further know that they had to cause this damage with the first lock because had they done it the right way and the lock was over torque they should not have been able to get it off at all it should have been needed to be torched off. I called the regional office at 1-800-876-6676 ext 6146 to speak back to Mark I left a couple messages and have not heard anything back. I want this resolved and I want the damage to my vehicle repaired.
