I have been working full time for over thirty years and have never had a problem like this.I started working at Averitt DLS in May of last year. Beleiving the public hype and the service center Managers word that I would start driver training my second week, I showed up gungho and busted my butt. First of all, they expect you to finish the trailer you are breaking before going to break. Well, some of the trailers can take up to five hours to complete, but I complied without complaint. What that did was jam all my breaks together and another employee told some one in management that was taking extra breaks. We had to sign in and out for breaks, so it would be easy for a supervisor to check. But they didn't and they didn't talk to me about it either, they just started making smart remarks and generally treating me like crap.I even had the Dispatch Supervisor come bug me before I even clocked in like I was goofing off. Also, it took them months to get me in driver training. And then, it was only after I brought it up to the Ops Mgr so many times he got angry. He actually told me I have to be patient. Also, I expected to get the going rate other drivers were getting, but I actaully got two dollars an hour less. When I went to talk to the Ops Mgr about it, he got very snide and said they had never started anyone at that much and if I was expecting a 2 dollar an hour raise it just wasn't going to happen. I know that is a lie and so does everybody else there. Also, I was asked by this Mgr if I could work on a Saturday, I had to make a phone call and found out I couldn't, so I told him. And he said "I'll tell so and so." He then forgat to tell so and so and told everyone I didn't tell him. That's one lie to me and one about me by the same manager. Now I'm not including alot of stuff, these are just the highlights. I also need to say several drivers have put their hands on him recently. I cannot justify violence, but I know I dreamed of just choking the crap out of this one. Instead, when I'd had enough, I quit and told him what I thought of him.(not for mixed company). Now I don't know about the rest of Averitt, but Dallas is messed up. No raises for years for top earners, a crazy manager and long hours and ungratefull management. Every City driver in Dallas tells other drivers "Don't come to work at Averitt!" And the morons in Dallas management can't figure out why they are short on drivers and can't seem to hire any. Because they have too many reasons not to work there.
