Beware of this Independent contractor. I left a company with Mr. Thomas Foster Smith. To start a company through the purchase of a tractor at another company. We were engaged to be married. We shared a household. When we arrived there we learned that unmarried couples could not lease a truck together. We made the decision to put the truck in his name while we waited on the ordered truck we would be driving. We team drove in two different loaner trucks. The tax id was applied for to start the company. To make a long story short. I was mislead by Thomas Foster Smith's ill intentions from the start. The day the truck was picked up he was to start the paperwork while I finished the load we were under. When I asked to see the lease. He became outraged. He had signed the truck in his name a brand new 2011. He declared that it was his truck. At the company where the truck is leased we as a team were paid 97 cents per mile. Mr. Smith had the fifth wheel moved on the truck by Freight Liner in Iowa, while going into a dock to deliver the right wing was bent by me of course. I ask him to take the truck back to have the bolts tightened. He said he wasn't worried the truck was under full warranty. While delivering other loads the wing flew off. It was a different story when we returned to the terminal. At the company were I worked with Mr.Smith the drivers make 25 cents per mile and the rest is applied to the down payment of the truck until 6000 dollars is reached. Needless to say all the miles that were driven as a team went towards the truck. He has not paid me for the miles I ran. His reason at first was we shared a household. That sharing of a household has caused the water to be turned off. I had to have it reconnected. The phone to be turned off. A fellow driver had it turned back on. I was on the road when this happened with Mr.Thomas F. Smith on HIS new truck). Because he moved my family into the house while I was on the road(before we went to this company) all the furnishing in my old house was given away. He rented all new furniture. For our new place. My family was estactic they thought he was the greatest. The rented furniture has to be turned in tomorrow. The house will be totally empty. A bill that has not been paid in over a month. Half of the rent is not paid. Two churches have helped me and family with food. He has not paid me. I have a granddaughter who lives with me 5 months old and a 12 year old daughter. My phone calls in regards to being paid have gone unanswered as well as text messages. I have learned from facebook that while I was working my a...... off team driving with Mr.Thomas Smith, he was starting a relationship with a lady who refers to him as the love of her life. Stating that she was meeting him. A week after Feb.2,2011. All this was going on while I was on the truck. The agreement was 20 cents per mile(there would be no way I would leave the company where I was for less). Out of all the miles driven. I have not been paid. The shared household was just a ploy for me to help him with the down payment on a truck. Beware of this Independent Contractor. He has caused more harm in his lies .
