We gave Shaunna Mineer $2,000 for an application fee towards our adoption. She has since lost her agency license and refuses to refund our money. We are not rich people. All we want is a baby. We came to her and told her our story of a failed adoption we had recently been through. She assured us she could help us and to give her $2,000 and she could start presenting birth mothers to us. She gave me a story when she signed us up saying she had lost money through a bad agency and that is why she started her agency, to help hopeful adoptive parents. She took our money and in the few months she had it, she never presented one mother to us. She never returns phone calls or emails. She did no work for us at all. We wrote our own profile and supplied all of our own photos, yet she claims she did a profile for us. Even though we had our adoption home-study already completed by another agency, she claims it cost her $2,000 to have her social worker "review" it. She refuses to refund our money because she hides behind her policy that her fee is non refundable, even though she has done nothing on our behalf. When she took our money, we believe she already knew her agency was in trouble! She is telling her clients that when she is able to reopen her agency she will use that money toward other adoptions. But she will still require a down payment to match with a birth mother. That will be over $9,000 to "match" and then another $9,000 to finalize!! How can any of us trust her again since she has already taken money from us and not provided promised services? Shauna Mineer cheated us out of our hard earned money when all we wanted to do was adopt a baby.

My name is Summer, My husband and I too were given this exact same story by her and her husband back in Frebruary.. We too heard nothing after she took our $2, 000 and in may we got an email stating we were out of luck and she was closing the business. I am trying to contact all of the families to see if any want to get the media invovled to step up the pressure for her to give our files back to us. I am very worried she may steal our identites with all of the very personal information she has. We are also looking into suing her, let me know if you are interested in joining the effort to get as many people invovled to let the world know what a thief she is!
