| December 22, 2011 This "business" operates much like other scam sites. No phone number, no physical address, no email address. They take your money via PayPal (which I recovered through a PP dispute) and you never hear from them again. I ordered Sony MDR-V6 headphones on November 25, 2011 for a ridiculously low price ($41.39, no tax, free shipping, a full $20 less than others). I was suspect at the time of my order so I searched for any scam reports and found none. I'm sure this will be the first of many to come. When I received no email confirmation. So, I went to their site (www.cameracentral.com) and looked up my order. To my surprise, it indicated "will ship in 1 to 2 weeks." RED FLAG. At the time of my order it said "in stock." So, to give them the benefit of the doubt, I let 14 days pass and sent a message through their site. No response. 3 messages and 3 weeks later, I filed a dispute with PayPal. I tried to resolve it with Camera Central but received no response from that attempt. I escalated it and a couple days later (December 21, 2011), PayPal notified me of a refund. Whew! That was close. The owner, Ron DeKoker, wrote this message to PayPal: "Hello. I am very sorry, but this item is no longer available from the manufacturer. We can no longer supply this item, and it will be removed from our website. I am very sorry for the trouble." Typical liar/cheater. This is a top selling headphone around the world, everyone carries it and even though he said he would remove it from his site, it is still there at the time of this report. http://www.cameracentral.com/sony-style-mdrv6-professional-headphone-black-p-8819.html I believe there is one of two things happening here. Either these scam artists grab as much money as they can, as quickly as they can with ridiculous false ads, and skim interest off the funds until they are forced to give it back, OR they have no purchasing power until they receive hundreds of pre-paid orders in the hopes of obtaining large quantity discounts. It seems the latter never happens. Warning: DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS SELLER! They do not stock inventory, they do not communicate and they lie. They made no effort to deal with my complaints directly until I got PayPal involved. This was to be a Christmas gift. Luckily, I was able to find a quality headphone at a local discount store for $12.99. Problem solved! Good luck with all your online purchases. I highly recommend your research EVERY seller prior to giving them your money. But beware, because I did with this one and still got scammed. Amazon is always my first pick. |
