Cat Depot claims to be a no kill shelter that rescues and saves lives and provides a safe haven for around 130 cats until they go to a "forever home". They quote experts statistics on required space for a stress free, healthy environment. The truth is, more often than not, they cherry pick kittens and special cats from their waiting list and spit them back out like a transaction at a 7-11. But that's ok. It's all about racking up bragging numbers and now the goal is 1000 cat out the door.
The other goal, per Shelly Thayer, is to purge their building of any cats they consider outdated inventory that take up space they can fill with "rescued" Ragdolls and Persians.This is their dirty little secret!!! They seek out people with rural property who will allow them to unload these undesirables(older, plain, timid cats ).
In their so called "exchange program" these cats are forced into the harsh life of a barn cat,completely alien to what they have known and if they flee in fear and starve to death or become no more than part of the food chain, no safer than a rabbit or a sguirrel- that's ok....who will know! The public will only know from their website and newsletter the "outdoor paradise" built for "Max and Artie."
Don't believe their propaganda!!! These cats that they are quietly moving out there back door will not be placed in bona fide sanctuaries providing protective housing. How can anyone trust and support this "rescue organization". Shelly Thayer must have been booted from Best Friends in Utah. She's turned a once compassionate shelter into what should more accurately be called Cat Dumpot!!! |

| anyone that believes this crap is seriously STUPID ! The person /persons who wrote this drivel are ex-employees that I would assume finally got caught ripping off The Cat Depot. This is how they respond. Ask Best Friends org. what Shelley is all about. She is trying to save the poor cats that have been deserted, abandoned, abused, and are lost. She is absolutely one of the most compassionate, caring, people that I have ever known. I do not live in the Sarasota area but have visited Cat Depot and it is a state of the art, clean, loving place for a cat to live and hopefully be adopted. The Libel that these malicious people are committing against Shelley and The Cat Depot is just plain sick. Unfortuneately, one can say whatever one wants in an innernet forum and there is no way to disprove the lies. They are all lies !!! I have known Shelley since we were in Junior High and she is absolutely committed to doing what is right for the felines in this world. Shame on you rotten, nasty people for trying to drag her down. You are dispicable cowards. You won't come forward because you know you are lying. What kind of pervert are you ? Please anyone that reads this "Scam Informer", you have been scammed. If this is truly a site that is supposed to inform consumers, then they are remiss on finding out the facts. This whole site is a scam !!! |
