Cellufun Boogscraft Bad Attitude, False TOS violation accusations, Employees bully & mock customers; feign excuse for blocking accounts Internet |

Shortly after I purchased fun coins on the Cellufun website in '09, a Cellufun employee, screen name "boogscraft" blocked my ability to utilize pertinent aspects of the website -- including ability to communicate for one year based on an accusation of "cheating" after I made comments in a chat area in his presence pointing out the unfair exchange of Cellupoints (CP's) which are free, plentiful and useless for many of the prominent games, for Funcoins which are not plentiful unless you spend cash for them. For example, it's not uncommon to pay 25 fun coins for a gift box contains a miniscule 2 fc's, or a Gift bag costing 2 fun coins contains useless cp's. Boogscraft immediately accused me of cheating when I suggested that players use Opera's refresh feature in the Christmas game. Based on my response to comments, it was clear I had no idea this was considered "cheating." It was also clear to Boogscraft that I had just started playing that game with no time to benefit from the function. Aside from this, there is nothing about the 'refresh' function that violates Cellufun TOS. Despite player protests, I was "locked up" for a year. The money I had spent on funcoins ($20) in order to purchase clothes and services for my avatar was for nothing as locked player avatars wear a prison jumpsuit. The bullying did not end with the lock up, Boogscraft then proceeded to monitor my blog and delete the entries. I reported this behavior via to no avail. On approximately July 5, 2011, I began playing the Beanie Baby game, acquiring one beanie for each of two screen names. A few days in, the website was experiencing a number of 'bugs' or techical difficulties. As a result of this, 99 fc's were subtracted from my account for shelves when I clicked on the log book. I wrote Cellufun support about this via the site twice to no avail. I tried using the Customer Support number which had a constant fast busy signal during business hours and then just rang after 5 pm. Finally, on or about Monday 7/11/11, I sent an email to . The following is the unedited record of the email exchanges with the most recent appearing first. Charisma is me JK is the Cellufun rep: ## Please do not write below this line ## Your request (#29489) has been deemed solved. J.K., Jul-13 16:49 (EDT): Probably the latter of the two. :-) Thanks for playing Cellufun! charisma62, Jul-13 16:47 (EDT): Really? Well, your first mistake was your choice of eatery. You are easily amused. You gonna tell me which TOS item I supposedly violated, or are you going to continue down this path of unprofessionalism and childishness? -----Original Message----- J.K., Jul-13 16:28 (EDT): And sausage too! Thanks for playing Cellufun! charisma62, Jul-13 16:17 (EDT): Just out of curiosity, which one of those 22 TOS items did I supposedly violate. -----Original Message----- J.K., Jul-13 15:56 (EDT): My Denny's Grand Slam was supposed to come with bacon. :- ( Thanks for playing Cellufun! charisma62, Jul-13 15:32 (EDT): It can never be genuine because you're asking me to own up to something that can be proven false if anyone would care to take the time to look. I'm not going to tell you I absconded with fun coins with any amount of sincerity because I didn't. Besides, if you're restoring access to people who have admitted to wrong doing, what's the point of the admission, anyway? All else aside for a moment, I have to say, your attitude is stunning. Definitely a coaching opportunity for some manager, but then again it's been my experience that problems with team members are usually symptomatic of bad leadership among 1st line managers. Ugh! It's just dawned on me that I can't report this ridiculous situation without unveiling my identity and I absolutely would not want any of my business connections knowing that I'm connected with this pettiness or the rank and file at Cellufun in any way. So, yours and your supervisor's downright nonsensical approach to your jobs is safe until I can figure out a way to get this in front of executives with some degree of anonymity. -----Original Message----- J.K., Jul-13 15:02 (EDT): I will not be resetting your password. Your admission is not genuine. Contact whomever you wish. Thanks for playing Cellufun! charisma62, Jul-13 14:45 (EDT): Let me get this straight. You are asking me to tell you a lie in order to get my access restored? AND you've restored the access to individuals who have admitted to TOS violations??? If you can't check, then you need to have the individual check who gave the order. I'm not going to tell you I did something that I didn't when it's perfectly provable -- if anyone would care to look -- that I didn't. If this wasn't actually happening to me right now, I wouldn't believe it. I don't know what else to do here... I do not want to pass on this correspondence as I believe you are truly following orders, but I'm being left with no choice. If you can't fix this, then I will ask Steve Dacek to take a look at it. You want me to own up to doing something I know full well I didn't do just to gain access to a game. That's kinda ridiculous. This will be my last plea. My next correspondence, which will include all of these emails, goes to Steve. You need me to say the words? Okay, I'll say the words if that will help you. I violated TOS -- have no idea how and every fun coin I have has been earned or purchased, but if it'll make this situation go away without me having to take this embarrassing pettiness to a Cellufun executive, I plead however you need me to. There! Is that better? The only reason why I haven't pulled the trigger already is because your very obvious youth and inexperience is screaming at me. Though you've been a little less than professional and civil with me, I'm not holding that against you. Again, youth and inexperience. I see it all the time. I hope we're not at an empass. I'm out of other options. The ball is in your court. -----Original Message----- J.K., Jul-13 14:14 (EDT): My orders are to not reset anyone's password who has been flagged as a violator of the TOS, unless they admit to doing so. So far you are the only hold out. I cannot do any check on the accusations we are placing on your screen name as I am not outfitted with the appropriate tools or training to do so. Thanks for playing Cellufun! charisma62, Jul-13 13:42 (EDT): By the way... I realize Neil is no longer with Cellufun, but he maintains communications with Steve Dacek. -----Original Message----- charisma62, Jul-13 13:23 (EDT): Let me say it again... Please take the time to check your records and get your facts straight. I'm not going to admit to something that I did not do. If you would merely take the time to do your homework, you would see that. I'm not your run of the mill gamer. I play occassionally on a casual basis. I take great offense to your accusation. Neil Edwards is one of my connections on a professional networking cite that gives me direct access. Having recently lost my own job, the last thing I want to do is have anything to do with another person being out of work and/or receiving disciplinary action, however, your lack of professionalism and tone are bringing me dangerously close to copying this correspondence and sending it to him. I highly suggest that you do, in fact, do some sleuthing. If you had taken the time to do that, you would not have come at me with that insulting, and unfounded accusation. Every fc I have access to I have earned or purchased. You would have known that had you checked. It's your decision. What would you like me to do? And just so you know that I'm not bluffing, here's an exerpt from his profile page... I had the pleasure of working with Neil while he was CEO of dotMobi. Neil is an incredibly dynamic, energetic and personable leader with genuine people skills. Neil brought together a very diverse group of people and inspired and motivated the team to build a company and product range from scratch. Neil's particular strength lies in his ability to see the bigger picture without getting buried in detail and his strategic focus and creative thinking significantly contributed to the successful launch and growth of dotMobi. As a former Director of Human Resources, I know you're trying to do your job. I'm just asking you to act based on factual information and not on impulse. Question is, do you want to take the time to look at the funcoin history or shall I ask that someone from Neil's office do it? Even if I had ill-gotten funcoins, which I do not, do you think your level of professionalism will hold up to executive scrutiny? -----Original Message----- J.K., Jul-13 12:58 (EDT): If you're not going to admit to your violation, then I suppose your password won't be reset. Sorry. Thanks for playing Cellufun! charisma62, Jul-13 12:43 (EDT): Woa! Hold on a minute. What are you talking about? I have around 1500 fc's to my recollection -- xxpollyannaxx fc's were won in games/clicking on ads. Let me clarify in case you're not aware, you can't have more than one cellufun page open on a cell phone at a time, not to my knowledge, anyway. The two tabs I referred to are on my laptop -- one for each of my CF screen names. And, do I really need to tell you that you can only earn fc's on the cell phone??? There is no conspiracy here. *Every fc I have was earned over time clicking on ads AND I won a substantial number last year playing Cinco De Mayo. Check the records! Don't take my word for it, but do please take time to check the bank activiity.before you make accusations. I have most of the fc's left because I've been saving them for a time when you guys beef up the clothing stores. If you're going to make accusations, please at least do your home work first. -End of email exchange- The email exchange started with JK accusing me of violating TOS, progressed to accusations of stealing fun coins and a confession being demanded in order to receive a new password. I certainly wasn't going to confess to made up accusations, however, it's quite doubtful that access was going to be restored regardless of what I said. I asked repeated to be shown which of the 22 TOS items I had violated. The transcript reveals the responses I received. There are far more obvious high-profile, prominent targets amongst gamers on the site than me. In fact, there are several of whom it is quite obvious that they use the 'refresh' feature in their browers and enhance their success on the site in other ways, but they buy fun coins. If Cellufun were to take action against everyone they suspected of using the refresh feature, there would be no one left on the site. I play occassionally, mostly by myself, I'm helpful, courteous, and stay away from the bad behavior that often occurs on the site. I believe I was targeted and remain without access because I no longer buy funcoins and stay away the games that are fun-coin heavy in order to play successfully, and I'm occassionally outspoken about the underhanded practices Cellufun uses to separate players from their money. The customer service is horrendous, which is the primary reason I stopped giving Cellufun my money. The staff, when you can get hold of them, which is rarely, are patronizing, rude, and expect to be treated like demigods in order for gamers to receive the slightest bit of help. And CF staff is extremely arbitrary and bias regarding *who* they will help, and what TOS violations will be overlooked, or, in cases such as mine, made up to fit a Bully/CF Employee's agenda. They select gamers to be "Ambassadors" which is basically euphemism for unpaid workers. |
