Central Florida Yamaha
Central Florida Yamaha, Inc. They May Sell their Boats Cheaper but, the aggravation is not worth the Savings!!!! Lake Placid, Florida
19th of Apr, 2011 by User175684
Purchased a brand new 2010 Key West 1520 CC from this dealer. It came with a 60 four-stroke Yamaha motor and a majic tilt trailer. Told salesman that i wanted a bigger motor and he informed me that 60 would be more than adequate for this boat. After, be told that i decided to go with the 60. After the initial break in period i tried to get the boat up on plane. It would not go fast enough and the boat was dragging and not going up on plane. Drove from West Palm Beach to Lake Placid to take boat back to dealer. Other issues were the bimini top would not go in the holders correctly, the gauges fogged up. When we got to the dealer they changed out the propeller, bent the down bars to the bimini top to fit in the holders, said nothing they could do about the gauges that's how they are. Took boat out for a trial ride with new prop and still would not get on plane. The mechanic went to the bow of the boat and then it got up on plane. He informed us that this is what myself or my wife would have to do every time we went out on the boat. The mechanic when loading boat on trailer ran it up and chipped the fiberglass under the front of the boat. I contacted the manager at the dealership and he said he had no idea that any of this had taken place and to bring the boat back again and he would correct all of the problems. So, here we go again. Two weeks later we drive back to Lake Placid. They have put shims behind the motor. Changed out the prop again. Put new down bars on bimini top and moved holders. Fixed the fiberglass that was chipped at the front of boat. Ran wire to battery to keep lights on all the time to dry out gauges. We thought okay everything seems good lets go Boating and Fishing!!!!!! Took boat out and took on Water!!!!! Our feet and cooler were Soaked!!! Floating!!!!! Called dealership on my cell phone from the boat. Manager said oh, you need to bring it back in but, I am going on a hunting trip with my son and won't be back till next week. I called the manufacturer of the boat Key West and they said oh did you get plugs for that boat when you bought it that's the problem. I called the dealer back and he said that the new boats should not require the plugs only the older models. We thought that was fixed. There has to be something else that happened are you sure you put the drain plug in etc., etc. blaming it on us!!!! After calling and calling the dealership finally got a call back from manager and he said he wanted to meet us at our fishing location to see what the problem was or what we were doing wrong. Because when he took it out for a test run there was no standing water in the boat. Prior to us taking the boat to be fixed there had not been any water standing in the boat. We decided to take the boat to another dealer to have the shims removed as we thought this might be the problem and also to pick up these so called plugs. The mechanic at this dealership did not want to remove the shims because he said the boat is to heavy in the rear and the motor to small for the boat. In the back of the boat you have a 20 gallon fuel tank, bench seat for 4 people motor on back, battery, console and another battery that are more towards the rear of the boat. They tell us that's not poor engineering. We left the boat for the mechanic to look over and low and behold they found that the O-ring was missing off of the drain plug....We can only conclude that someone at the dealership where we bought the boat was not happy with our complaints and decided to take matter into their own hands by cutting off the O-ring as it had been there prior to us taking it in for repairs. I called Central Florida Yamaha to report this to the manager. As of today, we have not heard back from him. He was also going to give us numbers for a trade in because we were having so many problems with this boat. That also has never happened. Just letting people know that sometimes it does not pay to purchase a boat at another dealership to save a few bucks!!! Don't get ripped-off keep your money in your pocket.
These men claim to be good ole country boys who go to church but, they seem to be very good at deceiving people. My boat is still a land yacht and paying for something i can't use sucks!!
