Colt Security, Inc. Management gets involved sexually with guards; operates as a

When I first started working for Colt Security, Inc., I never thought I would be dealing the most unprofessional individuals I have ever dealt with in my entire career. The worst of the group are "Operations Manager Daniel Oliver and "Director of Client Relations" Michael Oliver. Both of these individuals will have you believe they have worked real hard for their "leadership/management" roles within the company. The sad truth about the situation is that both these individuals are uneducated and spoiled. Their father, Dennis Oliver, was the sole owner of the company when I started to work there and he caters to his son's wishes. These two run the company like it's a high school popularity contest. The more you suck up to Daniel or Michael Oliver the more "get out of jail free" cards you receive. Anyone who stands up to these too has their days numbered in the company.


Do you think it is a conflict of interest and unethical for Management to get romantically involved with subordinates? Well, Daniel and Michael don't seem to think so Daniel Oliver used to date a dispatcher. She had his son and was later fired from the company when she cheated on Daniel with another guard. Michael Oliver is currently dating a dispatcher for the company. I know of at least 1 person who lost their job so Michael's girlfriend could be employed full time. EVERYTHING HERE CAN BE VERIFIED. Just ask around. Michael's girlfriend currently works art Laguna de la Paz.


Unreliable and deceptive practicesI wouldn't trust them with anything.


When I first worked under Michael, he seemed like a pretty good guy. After a while however, I saw his true colors. Michael is a procrastinator, a liar, and a thief. For all those at Mountain View that may be reading this, he would tell me to lie to homeowners about their information being on the computer. Many homeowners would call upset because their guests were denied access all because Michael didn't have the time to update the information. Michael was just too busy setting up his weekend trips to the "Electric Daisy Carnival" or playing "Drunk Golf" to bother doing real work. Last year, the company's VP Larry Petak was informed of how Michael had been bragging about having received over $1,000 worth of Christmas money. All the homeowners should know that the guards working there only received $40 each of Christmas money and Michael took home the rest of the money and the Christmas gifts (tequila bottles, wine bottles, gift cards, etc.). Michael denied everything of course and nothing was done of the situation.


Supervisors also discourage officers from telling the truth regarding the number of available patrol officers to respond to calls. Colt has accounts from Indio to Palm Springs and only has 1 officer on shift from all day except from 11pm to 2am. So, if you are expecting a quick response to your security need, you are better off calling your local police department. They don't want you to know that though. Michael Oliver is famous for refusing to drive to locations to check on a situation. Most of the time Michael will not even answer his radio.


"Good ol' boy" company policy? You be the judge:


Colt recently lost the Annenberg Estates account which was one of their biggest accounts. Reason for this was that the client requested the removal of several guards because, "they were too comfortable," and were not meeting the client's needs. Dennis Oliver protected his officers, those loyal to him and his son's, and denied the request of the client - loosing the account. What happened to those guards now that their positions were extinguished? The guards were simply relocated to other posts. Other guards who were actually doing their job and in good standing lost their jobs so the lazy, no good guards, could keep their full time status.


Daniel Oliver is big for protecting his high school buddies. At 24 years old, Daniel acts like his is running for prom king. One of his friends was caught sleeping 7 times! You would think 1 time was enough to get you fired in security. NOPE! He was simply re-assigned.


And lastly, there are no incentives for employees and no promotional opportunities. They rather hire a friend from high school with no experience than to promote an officer with senority and a good standing. This means that the company is full of disgruntled employees - people who only care about showing up and getting paid... how hard do you think they will try to make sure you are safe?
