Covan World-wide moving, inc Coleman American Covan made our Military move from NC to CA. THE MOVE FROM HELL! Lots of stolen, broken and damaged item

Covan World Wide Moving, inc AKA Coleman American Moving made our move from Winterville, North Carolina to Paso Robles, California the worst that we have experienced in all of our moves with the military. Starting off, instead of bringing a tractor trailer like they were supposed to, they brought a box truck the size of a U-Haul truck. This required them to make two different trips between Winterville, North Carolina and New Bern, North Carolina. Instead of taking 8 hours it took almost 17 hours to load out our home. Had they put our belongings in a tractor trailer right off the bat, most likely everything else that happened probably wouldn't have. About a week after pick up, we received a call from the Craven County Sheriff Department stating that they had recovered our safe from the Neuse River in North Carolina. We had items in the safe that were irreplaceable. We lost three coin collections, military paperwork dating back to 1994, pictures of our daughters from when they were young and tape recordings of my grandparents who have passed on and recordings of our children's first words. After finding out about the safe, we called Coleman American (Covan) and reported that the safe was found in the river. They hadn't reported a break-in to the sheriff or the New Bern police department. They did however tell us that they had a break-in but didn't know what was stolen. At that point they tried to cover their tracks and reported a break-in. Throughout the investigation, we had found that this company didn't have any storage area to keep our household goods, nor did they lock up the trucks that had our items in it. The Craven County Sheriff thinks it was an inside job, but cannot confirm. That was on the 27th of June. We were supposed to receive our household goods on the 30th of June. After calling Coleman American of the 28th and 29th, we were finally able to get up with them on the 30th. At that point they informed us that they could not make the delivery date and that it would be a couple of days late. After changing the dates on us 3 times, we finally received our household goods on the 10th of July. 11 days late. It wasn't until we received our shipment that we really understood what was exactly stolen. All together we had over $3000 missing from our shipment. That is not even talking about what was damaged. Damages that they couldn't fix came up to just under $3000. They finally fixed the other items, all of which totaled over $1500. They fought us and tried to nickle and dime us with every little item, even though it clearly stated in the contract that they were responsible for full replacement value of our household goods. To top it all off, the company damaged the house that we had moved into, and when confronted about the movers stated "Just slap some paint on it and it will be fine." They have been unwilling to fix the damage to the house. All of the sentimental items that were stolen or damaged during the move are irreplaceable. I lost the voices of my great great grandparents, grandparents, my children's first words and my first words. Pictures of my children when they were babies. Items that were willed down to me from family. Items that were giving to me from family that are now passed on and coin's from all over the world and coin collection's. Things that I held very dear to myself and my family. In short, the only reason that we have received anything from Coleman American is the fact that we have the military backing us. If a company is willing to treat the Soldiers, Airman, Seamen and Marines that protect this country like this, just think what they will do with your next move.
