Covenant Filtration
Covenant Filtration Hague Over Priced Non working water filtration Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
7th of Jun, 2011 by User831870
We were ripped off from Covenant Filtration aka Hague in 2008. The Salesman, Corey Landry was the man who came to our house & pushed & pushed us to finally buying the water softener. We told him that we live on a very tight budget and that we can't really afford another bill right now. Then he did the huge sales pitch on that they will give laundry soap, shampoo, multicleaner, etc and we won't have to pay for any of that for five years because it will last that long. And we will save all that money not having to buy laundry soap, etc. Which he was giving all these outrageous numbers of what we could be saving and we told him no we don't even pay that and after all that he said we could be saving around $30 a month for not having to purchase any of those products. Then he showed us the hardness of our water and according to him it was a 30, ("the worst and highest he has ever seen"). Which we were a newly wed couple with kids and didn't like the idea of our kids drinking that water. Then he started putting numbers on paper and we kept saying no we can't afford that, then he kept pushing and pushing and said that he would throw this in free which would usually cost this much. And then he said that the first year we will only have to pay around $50 a month, and after the first year it will be a little over $100. Which seems that our due date seems to be changing from month to month so they can charge late fees. After we finally agreed he went on saying he bought the same system and he got it paid off within 3 years. Which I thought wasn't that bad maybe we will be able to pay it off pretty quick too. They came out 2 days later and destroyed our front side yard by the drive way with a huge deep trench & installed the system. Which my husband had to fill in himself. Since then we have called complaining to them about their product and they have came out to our house several times to fix their mistakes done to the system. And we called complaining to them wondering why they put the system we bought on a credit card, which we didn't approve of or like. So now we have an over $5000 balance on a credit card that has an interest rate of over 30%, so when we make payments the balance barely moves. But since they installed it we have called them and said that we haven't been getting any soft water and the salt they put in is still at the same level. But they wanted to charge a $89 service fee to come out and look at it, which we weren't going to pay for their mistake. So we kept calling and calling and finally we said they never installed the water filter for the sink so they came out for free for that a fixed the water softener problem which was the person who installed the system didn't do the valve right. Then in 2010 our lawn was flooded and a City worker came and saw our water was leaking at the main water shutoff where hague hooked the system to our water. The City worker said who ever installed the system to the main water line did not do up to City code. So we had to call them again to come out and fix that mess up. When we first got the water softener and found out it was on a credit card, we tryed calling them and saying we can't afford this and don't want it, and the rude person on the other line just told us this is not a car you can't return it and said it wasn't there problem since it was already paid for and you have to talk to the credit card company. So we have been losing our money on a product that doesn't even work and still doesn't work. Plus we tried to return back to them because it has never worked. We haven't had to buy salt since we bought the system in 2008 it still has the same salt it came with at installation, because the salt doesn't go down and our water is not soft. They have called to see if we want to schedule an appointment so they can change out our water filter for the sink and have told them no because nothing works anyway. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy, because once they have their money that is the last you hear from them unless it involves them trying to sell you something else.

Ma'am or Sir, before you go and put things out on the internet, first of all, identify yourself. You have slandered my name unfairly. Its only fair if I knew who you were so I personally can question my company about your concerns.

As for the salt, in order for a system to work, you have to put salt in the cleaning tank portion of your system. The salt rinses out all the" gunk" from your system. Otherwise it would build up in the tank and the system would be no better than a brita or fridge filter on the entire house. Fortunately, your system has the technology to clean all the gunk under a 25 year warranty if operated correctly.

As far as your grains of hardness are concerned, if it was 30, it was thirty. Its almost 4 years later that Im reading this but I would be willing to come back to your house and allow you too to test for yourself. I have nothing to hide. I will not compromise my integrity for anything or anyone, including my company. Please call 1-888-872-8056. Thats our service department. Tell them your name and that I told you that I want to talk to you. They can verify with me and I will call.

As far as your soap cost, if its $30 a month, then its $30 dollars a month. We normally give a free 5-year soap package for a 4-person family to allow you to invest that $30 a month into your system cost. Over that 5-year period, if you did that math, even with a $30 per month, you would save $1800 which would invest nicely back into your system to make it more affordable. I'm still tryuing to figure out how you pay $30 per month for all of your cleaning, dishwashing and soap producst in you kitchen, plus all of the soaps and cleaning products your laundry room, and all of the shampoos, bar soap, body wash, hair products and cleaning supplies for your bathroom. Add all that together with kids in your house, you can get all of that for $30 in a month? I wanna know how its done, because with 4 in my home, we pay at least $60 per month for that stuff. Im of the Ben Franklin ilk, 30 bucks saved would be 30 bucks earned for me.

As far as your interest rate, there is no way its 30%. At that time the highest it would be is 21.99%. Which is no worse than what any person of risky credit would get with a credit card. We have since gotten financing for folks with fair to below credit at 17.99%. For people with good or great credit, we have a program that could get you as low as 8.8%. Im not calling you a liar, but please dont embellish numbers or round up 9 percentage points.

As far as overpriced, a decent water system will cost anywhere from $3998-$10000. You can go get a department store water softner for a lot cheaper. With 30 grains of hardness, the next scaminformer report you do will be on that department store because that "cheap fix" wont fix a major problem. If you werent interested in your water quality, you would have never set up an appointment for me to come out and test your water. The old saying says, "You get what you pay for." If I needed brain surgery, Im not gonna pick the doctor that advertised discounted brain surgery for a $1000 bucks. I might want a little more professional job done. Same with your water systems.

As far as your installation and your yard getting tore up, it sounds to me like that was the installer. During that time in 2008, we were selling systems all over the state and had to get more installers. Shockingly, about all of these people love there water system and have not shared your sentiment about me or our company, but anyway, we have to get rid of some of those guys for shotty work. A few of them came from well-known Oklahoma plumbing service, Mullins Plumbing or the "Red Rooter". We are a licensed and bonded company, if one of our guys messed up your install, you should have called the service department to fix it. If the service people tried to charge you, and they shouldnt have, you should have called me. I usually leave my cell number with all my customers. If someone was giving you the runaround, I would have done everything in my power to rectify your situation. If you were on the side of right and were getting the short end of the stick, I would have sided with you because agian, Im not compromising my integrity for no one.

The thing is that this is a great company and over last ten years of business, we have done millions of dollars of business and have had thousands of customers. Your system costed anywhere between $5998-and $8998 judging by how bad you said your water was. We've had over 20mil in sales...of which is not all in my bank account. I just work here and there are operating costs for the company as well. Ma'am or Sir, that means your specific situation is rare or we would have gone out of business as fast or faster than Yugo Cars, MySpace, or you pick the failed company. Several of our customers are repeat business and or refferals of folks who love our systems.

I wish next time you have a problem, do it in a format or forum that the person you accuse of wrong doing knows your concerns and has a chance to make you whole. My name, Corey Landry, is the only name in this report. Thats unfair and you did not give me a shot personally to help you. Shoot, I wish you would have sent one of the television stations out to my house because I would have gladly worked with their "Consumer Watch" people to take care of you folks and all your concerns. I apologize for any grammar or misspellings. Im just a plain ole guy that wants to take care of his family and service his customers. God Bless.

Corey Landry
