Dean Avery
Dean Avery Private car seller or con artist carmichael, California
18th of Aug, 2011 by User838779
I understand with used car buying it is buyer beware but Dean Avery is a very convincing liar. I put an add in the paper explaining my situation and desperate need for a dependable car. I was contacted by many people but chose Dean because of the importance he put on family values, religion, and honesty. Dean gave me his address to come see and test drive his car. He talked as if he owned it for quite sometime. He initially told me the only problems with the car were cosmetic but it was such a dependable car that he was hesitant about parting with it and was only doing it because my cause was so good. We had two appointments which he canceled at the last minute. Then he called saying he understood that it was so difficult for me to even arrange a ride that he would drive the car to me and I could drive him home as a test drive. He showed up on this 3rd scheduled meeting stating that even most of the cosmetic problems could be corrected with rubbing compound and effort. It seemed to drive well so when he asked me to just drop him at the bank I was ok with that. After signing all the papers and receiving the money he stopped and told me that he forgot to tell me the radio only works sometimes and the antenna in the trunk just needed to be put back on. He explained it had always had regular oil changes, tune ups, and had never even been smoked in. He said that the engine had just started to make a slight noise but it was just gonna need spark plugs and eventually maybe a new alternator. The next day at dmv I noticed that the address and people on the title were not what I had been told this was right upon transferring it to my name. I didn't even get out of the parking lot and it broke down. I later ran the addresses and the title one appeared to be some kind of car dealer. The car is literally falling apart and just to get it started cost me $500 dollars. Its been a week and its broke down twice, all the bulbs were out, the door wont close, the radio doesn't work, the antenna was not even for the car. My friend called him to ask about buying a car since he claimed to be a private party who was just helping my cause and he began asking what kind my friend wanted. It seems to me he sells cars regularly and saw this as an opportunity to make an easy sale. A dealer who just hides that. If Dean Avery try's to sell you a car beware he is a very convincing liar and an experienced salesman. Left with no transportation and only endless problems including finding out where he really lives.
