Derek Visconi of Sakura Publishing Will Cheat You BewareDerek Visconi is "CEO" of a website called Sakura Publishing that publishes ebooks. He advertises on craigslist (and other places) for people to work converting PDF / .doc ebooks to Smashwords and Kindle formats. Derek will come off as a nice guy but will avoid discussing to discuss a firm price. He will claim that payment is "no problem" and then after you complete work and bill him, he will come up with all kinds of excuses to not pay. He will then insist on a "free sample". I suggest that IF you decide to do anything for this person, that you demand at least partial payment before doing any work. You have been warned. This guy wants you to do high quality work for peanuts. If you are willing to do that, fine. Just be aware that this person will change his "nice guy" tune in a moment's notice after getting your work. He talks about "trust" and then turns around and will not pay even after you submit the work. I gave this person a steep discount and he still refused to pay. Just beware and I really would suggest avoiding working with him or Sakura Publishing. There are other ways to make money than working for dishonest people such as this. This is completely unfounded. As the owner and CEO of Sakura Publishing, I should be quick to point out two facts this individual is leaving out:

1. He contacted me to do work for me based on an ad I posted on craigslist for ebook conversion. We talked and I explained to him in very clear terms that in order for me to understand if he can do the work or not and since he did not have a portfolio of past work to show me, I explained to him that I would like for him to do a sample ebook conversion. Afterwards, at his discounted rate which I was grateful to receive, we would then go ahead and start doing work together. HE went ahead and did the work and after he realized it wasn't going to be something he could do in a few hours but in fact took him I believe over 6 hours to do, he was upset and wanted paid. I should point out that the work he submitted to me was completely incorrect and would have required him to go back and do more work, since it's obvious he had absolutely no idea how to actually do an ebook conversion.

2. He was threatening and verbally abusive, calling me on the phone and yelling at me. I decided I did not want to deal with anyone who would ever be like this in a business relationship. I explained to him that I wouldn't use his ebook conversion and still have not to this day used it. In fact, I deleted it because he apparently did not believe in actually speaking with me to understand that is exactly why I ask people to do demos. It's not because I don't have money. I have plenty of money, it's because I need to see if people can do the work and the only way to do that is through requesting demos. NO other person has ever had a complaint to do things this way. I have since hired a wonderful ebook editor from Chicago who does fantastic ebook conversions and guess how he started out? Through doing a DEMO. So this guy just was upset that it took him so long because he didn't know what he was doing and he wanted paid when our emails clearly dictated that I wanted a demo and he AGREED. I can't be held accountable for the fact that he didn't understand a simple email and by emailing each other back and forth does NOT constitute an agreement for payment when no express agreement in those emails was made.
I think it's a sad day when somebody like this is treated by search engines with the utmost importance and I have worked hard to build my company up from next to nothing and this guy is threatening to undo all of that because of HIS obvious lack of intelligence. I have saved all the emails between us and have no problem showing anyone what was actually said, which will show this guy is lying and upset and this is where these unfounded reports are coming from.
