ECM Outlet
ECM Outlet Jeffrey McKee Auto parts scammer. Bank fraud. BEWARE! Troy, Michigan
3rd of Jan, 2011 by User808562
I found Jeffrey McKee's website on a Google search for a remanufactured ECM. When I contacted him, he told me he had the part that I needed in stock. I tried to put it on my credit card and he said that his boss instructed him not to take a credit card from an out-of-town customer, but he could do an electronic draft with verbal authorization. After a bit of hesitation, I agreed. The purchase amount was $425.00 and he was to pay shipping. I was told that he would ship the part before he withdrew any money. He then told me that he would ship the part that same day and send me a tracking number by Monday. Mr. McKee then printed a hard check from him computer (with all of our personal information incorrect) for $440.00 and cashed it.

By the following Wednesday, I had not heard anything from Jeff so I called him to request a tracking number. He said that he shipped the part on Tuesday (the day before) and would call me back with a tracking number. I requested that he put me on hold while he found the tracking number and he immediately got defensive and said that I had no reason not to trust him. He called me back about an hour later and said that he did not ship the part out at all because he had the wrong part number. I told him that I did not appreciate being lied to and he immediately offered a refund. I told him that I did want my money back and to electronically credit it back to my account. He told me that his bank wouldn't allow him to do that, but he would mail me a personal check. I agreed to that. He started trying to talk me out of a refund (that he had just offered) and send him my old ECM for repair. I told him that I was NOT going to send him anything and I just wanted my money back. He became rather pushy and I requested that he call and speak with my father since my husband was busy that morning. He called my father and was told that he had lied to us too many times and to send our money back that day. Mr. McKee then called my husband and work (not telling him that he had already been instructed to refund our money) and said that he had the wrong part number and wanted another chance to keep our business. (Note: Mr. McKee had been given the correct part number both verbally and via email!) He then claimed that he had the correct part number IN HIS HAND and would mail it that day and we were guaranteed to have it by Saturday.

The following Monday we received a filthy SALVAGE ECM from A & J Salvage in Union City, Tennessee. My husband called Jeff and told him that we did not purchase a salvage unit and to refund our money immediately. Jeff said that the part was fine and he would honor a 3 year warranty on it. My husband said that if it didn't work we wanted a full refund and Mr. McKee said that was not a problem. He would refund our money if it did not work. We asked for a copy of his warranty and he emailed a very sloppy invoice that stated NO REFUNDS. I was furious!

We took the part to our local dealership for installation and the salvage ECM was fried. The technician said he thought that it had water damage and probably came out of a floor car. We called Mr. McKee and asked for a refund. He said that if we sent the part back he would refund our money. I asked for something in writing (even a quick email) stating that he would refund our money and I would happily mail the part back. He told me I would receive the email within an hour. 10 days later, still no email. We tried emailing and calling him and could not get a reply.

I contacted his local police department to make contact with Mr. McKee. The officer was finally able to conact Mr. McKee a week later and was trying to work out a satisfactory resolution when Mr. McKee called me at home and yelled/swore at me for calling the police on him. I hung up on him and notified the officer of his behavior. Mr. McKee had made arrangements with the officer to provide a money order for our refund, but then backed out of the deal.

We're now going through our bank to try to get our money back the he took.

Jeffrey McKee is a liar, crook, and HORRIBLE business person. ECM Outlet has an F rating with the BBB and a Google search will bring up numerous other people with the same issue. At one time he did business in Texas and was shut down. He then moved to Michigan and started the same scam.

I wish I had done my research before dealing with this scumbag.
