Employer Network
Employer Network practicing deceptive, maybe even illegal methods to gain your personal information Internet
12th of Aug, 2011 by User900277
EmploymentNetwork.com is a scam. They somehow (with the use of today's technology, no doubt) intercepted the resume I submitted to various companies advertising on Craigslist fora Maintenance Technician. Using this knowledge to their advantage, they texted my phone the following message: Text: "Hi John, I just reviewed your application for
the Maintenance position you applied for.
Please call me at 888 596-1895". Yes, I thought receiving a text message on my phone about a job was unusual considering I did not mention texting as a contact option on my resume'. But, between the fact of NEEDING a job and trying to be mindful of technology and accepted methods of doing things are changing on an almost daily basis, I went ahead and called the number, with a skeptical mindset, to see what it was about. Well, the agent said that the company I applied with on Craigslist had received an overwhelming number of responses about the job opening so they retained Employer Network to prequalify a number applicants the company was interested in and then turn those that "made the grade" over to the company who, by the way, i was told wanted to remain anonymous. The agent confirmed some generalities about me such as "You are seeking full-time work, correct"? Confirmed my address and phone number, email address, and confirmed my citizenship, but then the questions got unusual. She asked if I was enrolled in school or if I was going to be enrolling to further my education. She also tried to sign me up for a program that offers free cell phone service. I passed on the offer but went along with the program just out of curiosity. After the questioning she explained that I would receive an email the following day that would finish up the last step in the application process for this particular company that was interested in possibly hiring me. The email never came so I decided to call and ruffle their feathers about my suspicion of them being a scam all along and that I would be reporting them to the local authorities and to RIPOFFREPORT.com. After some back and forth with the second agent, I followed her directions and signed into their website only to find out it's a job board. There was never a company that retained Employer Network's services to specifically prequalify me for a job opening. But they do have my name, address, phone number, and email address. They don't have my social security or banking numbers but "I'm watching you, Employer Network!!!" And now others are too! Following is a copy of the email I received from Employer Network. I wanted to include it to demonstrate the company is not an employment prequalifying company or staffing agency as they claimed to be, but in fact they're just an employment agency portal, as the links demonstrate Please pay attention to the "dead end link"at the end of the email. It's just another example of Employer Network's shady practices. --------------------Copy of Email--------------------- John, It was a pleasure speaking with you today. I am sending this email to follow up on our earlier conversation. As we discussed, here is the link to the Unemployment Survey that we spoke about. When you follow the link below it will take you to the site. http://www.employer-network.com/splash/?pid=86277053&appid=34293120&oid=1 Again, your information has been verified and forwarded to the employer. As a reminder, any further contact on that position will be coming directly from the hiring manager. I wish you the best of luck with the job and thank you for taking part in the survey. Sincerely, Amy
