Florida Family Basketball / Ben Bridges Florida Family Basketball Steals Kids Dreams While Ripping Of Families Off For Hundreds Of Dollars Internet
19th of Jun, 2011 by User617086

I am desperately seeking help in this matter. I have a 12 year old son who unfortunately is not or was not doing very well in school. As a mother I am and will always be willing to do everything within my power to try an get and keep my son on the right track. So after much consideration and input from family, friends and teachers I decided to sign him up for basketball. Through a mutual friend and employer I was referred to Florida Family Basketball. After a free session despite some reservations I decided to sign my son up. My son had 1 lesson and then practices were cancelled for 3 weeks. At the very next practice I requested a refund and was denied by Ben Bridges and James Ford. Practice was cancelled again for another month (none of the cancelled practices were ever made up) I again asked for a refund and was denied. Mr Bridges stated all he could do was give my son free private lesson and he could attend summer camp at no cost Well according to the website summer camp started last week and my son nor I was ever notified. Ben gave my son 3 so called private lesson and cancelled 4. I filed a complaint with the BBB which Florida Family never responded to and the BBB closed the case. I have tried numerous times to resolve this matter amicably but my calls go unreturned. They are either unwilling or unable to provide the services promised. Out off 10 weeks of so called season 5 weeks were cancelled. Six hundred and seventy five dollars is alot of money to spend especially after being laid off for nearly 2 years but I spent it in hopes of making my son a productive memeber of society vs a menece to it. Please any help you can provide would be much appreciated even if it's just a phone call to him to let him know your on the case or will be I am sure would make a great difference. He is counting on my inability to hire a lawyer or come up with the funds to file a small claims case.

Do you have receipts to show the services they promissed were not rendered? This travel basketball club is notorious for making promises and not keeping them. Mr. Bridges and Mr. Ford will sell you a dream and you will end up with a promise for an island and no land. These guys promised to provide Elite uniforms and shoes to teams but in the end provided uniforms and shoes that would not sell in a consignment shop. In addition, these guys charged $975 to all teams, but their younger teams did not play in many tournaments and they did nothing toprpare their kids to compete. These guys are more interested in their pockets and not HELPING KIDS. The only teams they care about are the 8th grade, 10th, and 11th grade teams. By the way, theses teams PAY NOTHING and the parents paying $975 support and sponsor these teams. Theses are the teams with Nike Uniforms and multiple shoes, and they don't pay for trips, lodging, or food. So going forward, do your due diligence in picking a travel club. Don't be fooled by the smoke screen or the catchy theme. They will fool you with their open gyms, becuase they train then, but they won't train the kids during the season. They will try to get you to train privately becuase it's where they make their living. If you want to find the corruption, follow the money. Bridges IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. He promises kids STARTING POSITIONS if their PARENTS HAVE MONEY. These guys preach FAMILY and talk about being Christians, but Jesus would be very disappointment in their work. STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA FAMILY. FIND A NEW TEAM!!!

Call "Help Me Howard" and see if he can help. Sometimes the focus is lost and some of these teams are more concerned about money and winning instead of helping out the kid! When you take your kid to a team, ask them for a budget, ask them how many tournaments you are going to play, ask them how do you come up with your fees, and ask them about their refund policy. To run a travel basketball team some of the things you pay for are gym fee, uniforms, shoes, drinks (Gatorade, water), cost of tournaments, player registration (AAU, USSSA, and/or YBOA), coaches memberships, maybe bags, and maybe trophies. All costs should be shown up front and should be for the kids. An average travel season consists of at least 6 tournaments. A busy season would be 8-10. I don't think coaches should get paid, you do it for the kids and the love of the game!
