I went to cancel my membership 7 days after signing up for this promotion, told the person I dealt with I signed up initially, and he gave me my $20 deposit back in cash, and I thought that was that and did not receive any papers back on cancelling this 3yr contract promotion. All of a Sudden in March 2009 I started getting charged $25 per month that said "Health Club Dues" I was also a member at world health at the time so thought it was WHC charging me. It turned out that the person at Eau Claire Golds did not do his Job and did not cancel my contract so I was being charged. I tried to resolve this but Gold's insited on making me pay the $200 cancellation fee plus I could not get paid back what I was charged as they said had no record of it. Northland's Gold's Finance department was not helpful at all.

Buyer beware, that if you are dealing with Gold's and other Fitness clubs like this, to get documentation of cancellation of not only if your just cancelling a regular membership, but if you cancel their promotional sign-ups. Can't trust anyone there, get a paper trail.
