All Guitar Center customers in MASSACHUSETTS beware~ I am writing about a true incident that has occurred to me and my company by guitar center! I went to Guitar Center in Boston MA and made a deal with a salesman to buy "NEW" JBL speakers...I was told they were new and never left the store! So, I bought them after being given a deal that they were open box, ONLY! After taking them home, I realized some where lighter in weight than others! I opened them up and saw to my SURPRISE aftermarket parts!!!!! I was upset by this and was wondering how can NEW speakers have aftermarket parts inside?! I called GC and called them on it, and they said no they are NEW! I had a gig I had to cater to and now could NOT because U have faulty gear that was misrepresented to me and said as NEW! Then I lost that job and my credability to my clients was jeopardized! After a lenghthy lenghthy lengthy back and forth, GC finally admitted to, what they call, "making a mistake" and told me that after running the serial numbers the 5 speakers i bought where infact sold and returned....SO they did leave the store! and Hence they were USED merchandise not NEW OPEN BOX! Also, when they got them back in the store, they were never sent out for TESTING!!!! they were simply placed back on the sales floor for sale and misrepresentation so that GC and make their money! Keep in mind, when checking out at GC all gear's serial # are entered into the computer, so they KNEW that these speakers were returned gear and CHOOSE to be fradulent with me......As a result of their choice to be sneaky and liars, the intigrety of my business was compromised! After speaking with the district manager JON, and calling GC on their fradulent acts, he agreed to replace my speakers with factory sealed ones this time and give me a 6th one for free! I let this slide because I had more gigs and wanted to be done with the situtation...... It doesn't stop there!............................. I then went to buy a Crown xti 2000 amplifier and found it online for cheap! The online dealer is AUTHORIZED & had the amp in stock......these are the 2 contingencies that GC requires for their "SUPPOSED" price guarentee policy! I went in to GC, but this time in Natick to get this amp.
I spoke with "Carlos" at pro audio and told him that I wanted to buy the amp with a price match. After seeing the price and said to me "I cant price match this for you, I have to FEED my children" and he down right refused to price match!.....Please feel free to go to the GC website where it clears spells out their price guarentee policy! No where does it mention personal reasons as a exception to the rule! . I am not sure why he did this, but English is my second language and so speak broken english and Carlos thought that I was not educated enough to know that what he was doing was AGAINST the GC policy in process!! Then I had someone else go in and ask for the price match and Carlos decided to discuss what happened with me, with this other person. Mind you, this other person didnt ask! He chose to communicate about this incident.......He then continued to say i MAY be able to price match, even if its instock or authorized dealer, he still might not be able to price match....and then chose not to! The other person spoke with a manager and the manager agreed that Carlos was wrong and was not abiding my store policy. In lue of this inconsideration, the other person was given a FREE display amp, and a price matched one.....So I bought one , "factory sealed" as I had come in to do, and got one "FREE". I then went to a gig I had that night, it was a wedding....I connected the FACTORY SEALED one, and turned it on, only to have a big pop sound come from my speakers and smoke from the amp. Then amp had greasy finger prints all over it! How can a factory sealed amp be so DIRTY? Maybe because it wasnt factory sealed! I was a victim of fraud by GC YET AGAIN! I called them on it AGAIN, and now they refused to replace it! After telling them it was opened, they said ok, they will exchange both amps for 2 NEW factory sealed ones. I refused to go to boston and Natick for obvious reasons, so I went to the N. Attleboro Store. There I was greated by a manager named JOE! he have prepared 2 "factory sealed" amps at the front of the store so I could swap out the faulty ones that they sold me! Because I was put through h**l and back before I request the boxes be opened before I left.......THEY WERE ALREADY OPEN......after a lot pof back and forth, JOE admitted to fraud and to have known that they were open box and that he had TAPED them shut! I asked him why LIE!???????????????? He said he was sorry, and that it was his fault for lying......... This does not fix things, it seems like all GC cares about is making a fast BUCK by screwing over their customers, even if it means compromising the integrety of their customers. THEY DON'T CARE! I then DEMANDED i get 2 factpry sealed crown amps. DO YOU BLAM ME? I was told that they would be there on Friday, this happened Monday! 2 Weeks passed, NOTHING. I then called on 3 mondays after spoke with Joe and he told me that they hadnt even been shipped out yet! Joe and everyone in GC knew i needed this gear to run my business and they made matter worse by CHOICE! He told me he would call me by the end of business Monday no later than Tuesday morning! NO CALL!!!!! I called Wednesday and then he said he just didnt call me.....no rhyme or reason!...then he called me the next day, Thursday to let me know the amps were in the store. I left JOE know that i would come in and pick them up. I went up later that day, and got the amps, and was looking to buy cables. After looking around, I was told that I could no longer shop there and was not ASKED, but ORDERED to leave and treated like a criminal infront of other customers and in front of my 5 year old son! Imagine how humiliating that was! I asked what the reason was and I was told by a manager named DAVE that I should have received a letter from corporate with an explianation. I told him I hadnt received anything! They didnt care and told me to leave! I called corporate and spoke with Annie, and she told me over the phone that a registered letter had ben sent out, I asked if they got delivery confirmation, she said no, I asked how can you make me leave a store without a LEGET reason? The answer was "we can and we will".....again treating me like a criminal! Now we are filing a lawsuit against them..... if you have experience misrepresentation of this sort or bought gear thinking it was new and turned out to be used, PLEASE CONTACT ME...................BEWARE
