As a former employee of this pathetic excuse for a school, I must warn all potential students to stay "far away!" The recruiters are like vultures, and DO NOT care about your education or future. They need to fill seats in the classrooms or they don't make their quotas. ITT Tech is NOT A SCHOOL. They are simply a corporation disguised as a school and they do a great job of taking advantage of the poor. As a former employee, I can tell you that working at ITT weighed on my conscience. I knew that the corporation was corrupt and that our job was to recruit students in order to make money. I did not work as a recruiter. I was part of the Career Services department and was treated like complete and utter crap. I made my numbers and worked my hardest to find jobs for my students, but many students never returned calls or gave us bogus numbers (and our bosses made us pay for the students' laziness.) There were days when I would call a particular student 20 times to interview with a company and that student would never call me back. You see, ITT recruits students who want to pay for a diploma. They don't want to put in the hard work or actually attend class. That would be way too much work. The Director of our department had never worked in Career Services and had no clue how to run the department. She was NEVER in the office and students would ask to speak with her, and our excuse was always, "She's out in the field, visiting companies." Even though we all knew it was a lie. I don't blame her for wanting to be "out in the field." Our department was a joke, and we were treated like dirt. The particular ITT Tech that I was working for in Houston was very bad to it's employees. I was actually getting sick from the stress and the hostile work environment. I had to share an office with a guy who was constantly making remarks about womens' bodies (and I could have called the bogus hotline and gotten him in trouble, but I ignored it.) Our boss showed favortism towards the guy I was working with, and often showed hostility to the women in our department. Our campus only interviewed ONE person for the Director of Career Services position and that person had no experience working in the educational field (not that ITT is really educational.) I can tell you for a fact that the staff at ITT Tech constantly talks about it's students, and makes extremely nasty remarks. I worked with a woman who was blatantly racist and said things that were offensive to me. The professors I spoke to (who were some of the nicest people you would ever meet,) would constantly complain about how dense the students were, and how they had to treat their students like elementary school children. ITT makes the teachers call the students if the students don't show up for class, and the teachers are forced to spoon feed the kids what they didn't learn in class. This would never happen at a reputable college. I had been with ITT for almost three years, and I took leave because I was suffering from a medical condition that was getting worse due to the stress that I was under, and the constant badgering we received on a daily basis. When I was due back, I decided that I couldn't work for such a corrupt company and decided it would be better if I looked elsewhere. I really don't understand how the staff at ITT can sleep with a clear conscience. ITT is deceiving students from low income areas by encouraging them to take out huge loans that they will NEVER be able to pay back. Instead of going to ITT Tech, students would be better off going to a community college and transferring to a "Real School!"
