Kids Bounce 4 Fun - Rod Maldonado
Collapsing bounce house, no show clown, non-employees, no customer service, lies
20th of May, 2012 by ClarissaMusic
On March 27, 2012, I booked my son’s birthday party with
Jason, of KidsBounce4Fun that was to occur on May 5 btw. 1pm – 4pm. The details were a 3 in 1 combination
bounce house, water slide and mini pool, an attendant, clown (who was to do face
painting and balloon twists for the kids) and snow cone machine. It was scheduled to be delivered at
11am and picked up at 6pm, as their policy dictates.

On May 5, the snow cone machine and 3 in 1 combo blow up
castle were delivered at 9am and set up – 2 hours earlier than the agreed upon
time of 11am. Although it was an
inconvenience, I was able to make it work.

I had hired an attendant through KidsBounce4Fun in order to
have assistance with the monitoring of the kids in the bounce Castle, handle
any problem should one arise and make the snow cones. The attendant arrived at 2pm, an hour late. Thus losing one hour on the snow cones
for the party, which the kids were asking for, and leaving it to me solely to
supervise and monitor the children in the Castle and my in-ground pool. He did offer to stay an hour later,
which he did, HOWEVER the party did end at 4pm and most of the children left
around that time.

Also around 2:15pm, the Castle completely deflated. The attendant was unable to handle the
problem, which was one of the reasons I had hired him. We had to wait for over an hour for the
original installer to arrive and get it working – he did so very quickly. At that time, I inquired as to what the problem was. He reported that there was no damage,
simply that some Velcro within the unit had come away, thus creating leaking of
air. Again this defeated the
purpose of having hired the attendant in the first place. If it weren’t for the fact that I
happen to have an in-ground pool this would have brought my son’s birthday
party to a complete stop. I later
learned that our Attendant, Oso, does not work for KidsBounce4Fun at all. He was filling in for the actual
employee of KidsBounce4Fun who is a friend of his and could not make it – thus
his inability to be of assistance and my need to tell him to assist in
monitoring the children while in the bounce Castle. Additionally, the bounce Castle is very tall, taller than
the house itself, and in the attendant’s struggle with the bounce Castle, he managed
to bring down the Comcast line which now requires that I make a service call to
Comcast for repair.

Although this is not part of the complaint, I will mention
that around 2:10pm, we had an electrical problem when the snow cone machine was
plugged into the same electrical socket as the bounce Castle. It threw the breaker on that part of
the electrical. It was my
brother-in-law who fixed the problem, not the attendant. I mention this so that it does not come
back as some defense of all of the other problems. Additionally, Jason should have told me on March 27 that
THREE plugs would be needed with my order, not ONE and that the snow cone
machine is not a free standing unit, but would require a table. My not having had this knowledge
required some improvising on my part during set up and set up took much longer
than it would have otherwise thus cutting into valuable time I needed on the
morning of my son’s party.

Just before 3pm I called Jason, my sales rep, to discuss all
of the aforementioned. I left a
voice mail. I also mentioned that
the clown, scheduled to arrive at 3pm was not here yet. He neither took nor returned my
call. However, he was in
communication with my “attendant” and the original installer. The attendant attempted to get Jason to
speak with me, but he refused to do so.
The installer offered, as compensation, that they leave the bounce
Castle with me all weekend. I
declined the offer for multiple reasons, not the least of which is I simply
only wanted it for the party and wasn’t crazy about the number of hours it
would have to be here for a 3 hour party anyway.

The bounce Castle was scheduled for pick up at 6pm. I had deflated and unplugged the bounce
Castle around 5:45pm in an effort to more quickly move the removal of it. There was no show or call. At 9:30pm, 30 minutes after I had gone
to bed, KidsBounce4Fun.showed up unannounced. They could not get to the bounce Castle, as I had locked the
gate for security reasons. My son
woke me to get the gate code. When
he went back to tell them the code, they told him they were leaving and would
be back the next day, Sunday, May 6, thus disturbing the whole household, only
to do so again the next day. I
suspect their arrival at the house to pick it up will be unannounced as well.

Needless to say, I require monetary compensation. The charges that I paid
in advance of the party in full
(via PayPal: $100 on March
27 and $334.60 on April 10) were
as follows:

Attendant – 3 hours -
$60

Snow Cone Machine - $59

3 – 1 Combo Castle w/ Pool - $189

Clown – 1 hour - $129

Set Up - $15

Discount - <$42>

Tax - $24.60

Total: $434.60

Although I do feel I am due a full refund, the following is what I
demand.

A full ($60) refund on the Attendant for being one hour late, unable
to do what he was hired to do, and not an actual employee of KidsBounce4Fun.

A 1/3 ($20) credit on the Snow Cone Machine, as it could not be used
in the first hour of the party.

A 1/3 ($63) refund on
the 3 –1 Combo Castle w/ Pool, as it was not operable for over an hour of the 3
hour party.

A full ($129) refund of the clown who did not show up at all.

A full refund of set up ($15), as the delivery was 2 hours early,
was not done properly – hence the deflating during the party, the general inconvenience of not having
picked it up at 6pm as scheduled without rescheduling properly with me and
further inconvenience of dealing with it the next day.

As far as I’m concerned, the original $42 discount stays in effect
and is little compensation for the overall hassle of the experience,
disappointment to my son on his birthday, and lack of professionalism on
Jason’s part for not speaking with me about the problems especially with the
knowledge that he was available and simply refused to deal with it.

Subtotal: $287

Tax 6% - 17.22

Total: $304.22

I demand a refund in the amount of $304.22, payable immediately via
Paypal.

UPDATE:

On May 6, 2012 - at 2pm. Two people, male and female, showed up at my house unannounced. The female was not an employee of Kids Bounce 4 Fun, became hostile and I had to ask her to leave my property.

A PayPal dispute and Better Business Bureau report have been filed. No refund has been paid. Rod, of Kids Bounce 4 Fun, has gone out of his way to lie and cheat. The sad thing is that they could run a decent business but they choose not to.
