Knoxville Locksmith Service
Knoxville Locksmith Service Locksmithknoxville.com Misleading and unreasonable pricing, delayed service Knoxville, Tennessee

As a personal favor to me, and for your own benefit, please do not give this company and its contractors your money. Despite all of our easy access to information, it still seems hard to determine if a business is reputable. When I called Knoxville Locksmith Services I had no idea what I who they were they just came up in a Google search. When youre locked out of your house, you dont really want to play around on your smart phone all day selecting a locksmith. Upon calling, I was told there would be a $29.00 service charge plus labor. I had previously had a car unlocked once for $40.00, so I was expecting something similar, especially considering the lock in question was a simple knob-lock with no deadbolt. I had to ask several times for an idea about pricing they dismissively stated that the locksmiths set their own labor rates. There was no comment as to a typical pricing, or an example. They eventually said $20 and up depending on complexity. The website states 15min response time. In my case, they lost the request, and it was an hour and 15min and two phone calls on my part before anyone arrived. The technician arrived in an unmarked minivan, took a cursory look at my door and said his standard price was $100.00. If he has a standard, presumably minimum labor charge, why did they not tell me this on the phone or before I waited over an hour for them? I agreed to pay him the unreasonable charge. After literally 30 seconds of work, which involved a small but noticeable amount of damage to my doorframe, he wrote up the invoice and was quite disappointed that I couldnt pay him in cash. How very reputable. How could I have, when the only ballpark indication of pricing would have been half as much? Subsequently I looked up other locksmiths and found one in Knoxville advertising a service to rekey up to three locks and provide keys for $99.00. That sounds like a lot of work; much more than 30 seconds and a short drive. In summary, this website seems like it links you to local independent locksmiths. The company lost my request, and apparently has no interest in whether their technicians are charging their customers a reasonable charge. Furthermore, the contractors that they are using seem dishonest (only wanting cash) and opportunistic. If I had a better idea what I was doing I would never have agreed to pay such a price for the service.
