| This is my exact account of how my experience at LA Boxing went from a decent gym experience, to an absolutely horrifying and entirely misleading experience in every way. The manager is LaVon... Don't be fooled by him or any affiliate of this gym, or ANY LA Boxing establishment. I will give credit where it might be deserved, the two trainers I worked with were super nice and easy to get along with... I am your typical gym rat... I love working out and trying new forms of exercising. I spoke with a blonde woman at the front desk and upon reading the contract she continued to reiterate to me that this would be a month-to-month contract (she no longer works there, convenient huh). This was after she tried to bargain me with the "you'll save so much money if you sign the yearly contract." My emphasis for using a month-to-month was because I knew I could be potentially moving in the near future due to work (I did not want to go through the cancellation hassle, BOY WAS I WRONG!). I trained there three times a week for roughly two months... I will admit there workouts for adults were solid and for the most part, challenging. In late January I began noticing my arm itching and a sore growing. I went to my doctor to have it checked out and he verified that it was ringworm and was more than likely due to the wrestling mats during jiu jitsu sessions (I can't be sure, but I am pretty certain that if a medical claim(s) are made in regards to a gym membership, the membership is immediately voided). I felt it was time to move on from LA Boxing. So I took my doctors note into LaVon and stated that I had contracted ringworm from the gym and would need to discontinue my membership due to medical reasons. He simply replied with, " You didn't get that here and I'm not canceling your membership because I wipe these mats myself." I almost started laughing and wondered if he realizes that rolling around on a mat and sweat can cause ringworm EXTREMELY easily... I paid the account up to the last of the month and walked out (luckily I was paying with a check each month and NOT A CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD and I have since switched banks). Not realizing my account had been SWITCHED to a yearly contract I just received a phone call from a credit company claiming almost $1,200 in unpaid fees. I have since moved 40+ miles away and the creditor is claiming that I must move more than 50 miles away to be able to cancel my membership due to location. I really don't want to waste my time with this garbage, and if I can shed any light on this organization, DO NOT GO TO LA BOXING!!!!!!!!!! As far as my "outstanding balance," I'm not entirely sure how to handle the situation. I have now seen several reports from this exact same thing happening. My thought is to call corporate and send my doctor's note to them, but LaVon (Highlands Ranch location) said, "that doesn't matter, we're franchises, I make the decisions." He is very cocky and young (drives a blue c-class benz, you know the type). So I guess I will call corporate sometime this week and present all this info to corporate and hopefully will be able to make some headway on the situation. It disgust me to think these clowns are attempting to take advantage of peoples personal fitness to dismantle their pocket books. In an ideal world, I would shut this place down!!! I will report back if I make any progress with corporate. |
