I rented one Self storage space from My storage Company in June of 2010 to store misc. personal items. In July I rented another to store my jet boat. At the time I assumed both were the same price. After talking with the owner I was informed the second one was cheaper than the first. After storing my boat for a month I decided to take it to our cabin. At that point I called to find out how much the bill was, because I was a little confused about the timeline and the cost of each unit. I also no longer needed either unit. I called every day and left messages for a few weeks. At this point i was a little upset that I hadn't recieved a call back. Not willing to send a blank check I started sending e-mails over and over.Months went by. now I was just mad as hell. In hind sight I should have just removed all of my belongings and let them contact me. But didn't. After six months I finally called the police. They assured me they would call me back asap. Yeah. ok. A week later the officer called. He informed me it took that long to get Sharyn to return his call, and that she would be calling me. So I waited some more. Finally I started calling her again. After three days she answered the phone. (wow) So after six months and many calls and e-mails I finally had her on the line. She informed me I owed $700.00 yeah. nice try. The unit was $45.00 a month. One and one half months for two units totals is $67.50 She did a great job of blowing me off so she could just keep charging me. I'm sure she was thinking "If I don't answer the phone I can keep charging this idoit." I asked her to meet me at the unit so I could pay the $700.00 and serve her with court papers. She said "no". I was told to send the money and she would "send me a key to unlock the unit"
Now I have no choice. Pay the $700 or she will sell my 15k worth of stuff. And the worst part. She legaly can. My advice is to find an honest landlord. Anyone but MY STORAGE COMPANY in Eau claire WI |

| Each time I phoned, I would get the run around...when I could get a hold of her that is. I received "this phone is not in service" "The person you are calling is not accepting calls at this time" and other messages like them. I spoke to her letting her know that i had proof that she had been paid, and yet she refused to let me in. I asked her to meet me so I could resolve this and empty my unit. She told me she was out of town, and to call back. I did, and the phone was "disconnected" Now I find out that she sold my stuff, a little bit at a time. Although when I called the cops, she said she had a lien sale (while she can legally sell items for non payment, there is still a process...including a certified letter and publication at least twice in in two weeks, and the sale cannot be before 15 days of the first publication. Her "sale" was not published, but she did inform the "group of people that always show up" nor was anything mailed, certified or otherwise). The cops..."It's a civil matter, not a criminal one" |
