I was called by a company asking if I owned a discover credit card, and that all owners of a discover cards were being notified of a special sweeps stake for a $1000 gift card. Periodicals then told me that since i owned a Discover credit card I would also recieve a complimentary diamond watch (which was a tiny diamond in the middle of the child's watch) and 3 complimentary magizine subscriptions for 36 months. They had resited my credit card number to me over the phone and asked me for the security code on the back at which time I do not carry the card with me and asked how they got my number and they never answered my question. In order for me to get the complimentary watch I had to sign up for 3 more magazines that they chose and pay $66.41 a month for 12 months and then no other cost after the first year. I had to wait 3 days to cancel for the order to process and 12 to 16 weeks before the subscriptions would take affect. After waiting the 3 days I called to cancel and the line was busy for about a month. After a month I had forgotten about it, and then the magazines started rolling in I called again to cancel and again the like was busy. I then recived a letter saying my account was over due and it needed to be payed as soon as possible. I called again and was told that I could no longer cancel my subscription because I had to cancel with in 3 days, and they pre pay for all the subscriptions to all the magazines and there is no way out all I can do is change the magazines I recieve, and they could work with me on smaller payments per month. This is a real scam if they wont let you cancel and half the time you call the number is busy and I have yet to find a web site to contact them any other way but over the phone.
