After being out of work for seven months I saw a notice in the grocery store about delivering phone books for money. So my fifteen year old grandchild went to an orientation outside town where two semi tractors were parked full of phone books. We were given two gps trackers and a list of address and 53 bundles of phone books he counted them I did not.( big mistake) Then my kid and i spent 6 hour, 9 hours and 2 hours over the next three days delivering these books to each address and filling the proper paper work. I am a retired mail carrier and this area was my mail route for five years. Never the less there were 3 address I could not find as it was a part rural route. I called the guy and said we were done and he said he would call me and meet to pay me and pick up the left over books. We delivered 756 books at 492 stops. I was very careful in keeping tract of the delivery's. I should of had 98 books left over but somehow I had 155 books left over. So he did not call me and when I called him he said it would be better if he met me tomorrow afternoon. When we met he said because i could not find 3 addresses the route was incomplete. I ask him if he was going to pay us and he said it was not up to him but he would send in my paperwork to corp. and I might hear from them in 2 or 3 weeks. Then he told me I should only have 45 books left over, That made no since according to my figures and what he said he gave me in the first place. So after telling me I did not complete the job and telling me he was not going to pay me he ask me did I want to do another route? I said no thanks. then later that day he called and said if I came out tomorrow morning and working for 1 1/2 hours he would try to get me paid.So if he had paid us we would have earned $2.77 per hour and I used $50.00 worth of gas. But so far he has not paid me at all. I will go out tomorrow for 1 1/2 hours in an attempted to be paid, i will updated as further developments are warranted. I think he deliberate gave me too many books to get out of paying me.
