Pueblo Metals Recycling bait and switch Albuquerque, New Mexico |
27th of Apr, 2011 by User445063 |
I went to Pueblo metals on April 18,2011 to turn in my pickup truck for scrap at the advertised rate of $220 per ton. We loaded 2 and one half tons of scrap metal in back of the truck for more money. The load was weighed on entrance to the yard (7,800 pounds) and in the yard the yard worker tells us the truck is too long so we only get $150 per ton. I asked what about the steel loaded in back, he says they will take care of that in the office. In the office they pay us $150 per ton for all. I asked how am I supposed to know about length limits? The girl points to a tiny sign that is barely legible. So I asked about the extra steel loaded in back? She brings out the manager. They say there is nothing they can do. I start to complain further and they tell me to get out or they will call the cops. There should be a sign visible when entering yard warning of length limits, there is not. There should also be a warning that yard workers can adjust the advertised price on certain conditions, there is not. To wait until you have dropped your load and go to get paid, then tell you too bad for you, that is very dishonest. They got me for $70 per ton @ 7,800 pounds =approx $260, take it and shut up or we call the cops. These are bait and switch tactics at their worst. |

We at Pueblo Metals Recycling welcome all recyclers, haulers, and sellers of scrap metal to have their loads inspected and priced by one of our professionals prior to weighing and selling the scrap metal at our facility. We also encourage calling prior to selling with an accurate description of the material so that we can quote a current and accurate price. The "truck" referenced in this complaint was a heavy truck (over a one-ton rating) with a wood deck flatbed which is subject to different pricing than light scrap cars and trucks because of the additional processing and dumping fees that go into such heavy trucks. This complaint was not brought to our attention until one week after the transaction occurred at which time this person made repeated threats to harm our employees and was then asked to leave. |
