Purring Angels Cat Rescue Julie Joseph - Psych, you thought the puppy was yours to adopt, Not! Internet
23rd of Nov, 2011 by User653123
I found a rescue organization on Petfinders.com with puppies available from a litter. I emailed and phone Julie Joseph, the contact listed, about the puppies. She asked me to fill out an extensive application. I kept asking about fees and the health of the puppy(s), but never got my questions answered. I kept pressing to make an appointment to see a puppy as I was travelling from out of the area and wanted to make sure. It took days to get a straight answer (I should have smelled something fishy). When I finally got an email with a "location" she still refused to tell me where, but that I would have to call the "boarder" that had the puppy. So I made arrangements and went to see the dog. When we went to the location, it was 2 1/2 hrs away, in the middle of nowhere, conditions were questionable and the staff was very vague. We fell in love with the puppy and pressed them about next steps. No one would give us any answers, but one tech made a call from her cell phone. After about 5 minutes on the phone she said I would have to "work it out with Julie". I learned from the facility that Julie preferred to correspond via text. So I texted her that we wanted to move forward with the adoption and was told she was away on business but "I can meet you with him tomorrow if you like him I have all the paperwork". Then it got really interesting..... I got one excuse after another. A series of text began of; Me: We love him. Can we confirm we can adopt him? Julie: It’s not my decision, he has medical issues, waiting to hear from the person that has the final say. Not sure they want to adopt him to someone so far away. Me: Can speak to the vet or person deciding? Julie: The people that met him the day before have decided to take him. Also, we've decided the puppy wouldn't do well with children Me: Can we please speak on the phone? Julie: I can't take calls at work. There isn't anything to discuss, I never promised you the dog. I had been told no one else was looking at the dog, I had been promised a meeting to deliver him to me along with the "paperwork". I have all the emails and text exchanges to prove it. My family got emotionally attached; we chose a name and feel sick about the whole series of lies. I'm writing this, because I want to warn anyone who may try to adopt a cat or dog from Julie Joseph and Purring Angels Cat Rescue, she lists on Petfinder.com and many other boards. She is not trustworthy. She also lists under a couple other group names each with the consistent email address of [email protected]. Protect yourself! If the truth was just that they had changed their minds - that would have been an acceptable answer. But the changing replies about why they were not going to give us the puppy, is ridiculous.
