Raider Publishing International
Raider Publishing International Ripped me off regarding publication of my book New York, New York
25th of Apr, 2011 by User548465

After having worked on it for over two and half years and at considerable expense, I wrote the manuscript titled The Tragedy of Kashmir. Being impressed by the claim that the company has been founded for the benefit of authors, I decided to get it published by Raider Publishing International, New York. I was asked to pay a sum of 998 U.S.Dollars which included the charge for publication and an extra charge for Fast Service Option to get my book published within four months, otherwise the book would take one year for publication. I paid the money opting for the Fast Service. In their Timeline the company informed me that "you will be the first to receive copies of your book (free of charge)" The book has been released on internet on 11th February 2011 without my knowledge after a period of over one year and seven months. During the intervening period my letters to the company, written in most civil language, were either not replied at all or evoked a response weeks later. In my last letter written on 11th March 2011, the Founder of the company wrote '.... If you let me know where you would like your free copies sent, we can get them to you right away... We'll do all we can to proceed efficiently from here." I have yet to receive the author's copies. My last two letters to him remain unanswered. A friend of mine sent me a copy of the book from America. I was shocked to see the mistakes in it. The spelling of the word tragedy appear as "tradegy" on top of every alternate page. Words in the text are missing, sentences are repeated and the index is a complete mess. I would not have allowed the book to be released for sale if I was sent a copy first as promised. I feel totally let down by the publisher. My first written book and reputation as an author has been irreparably damaged.

Thank you for your feedback. I was also considering my work with Raider but now will stay away from it. I had seen your book in their bookstore site

Yes, I am having similar problems with them.

It has been just over one year since i gave them my manuscript.

The editing was discusting and i had to re-edit and compleatly do the interior of the book design myself. I am yet to see my book in print.

I however paid $3000 for my work as i bought extra advertising. I hope the advertising actually happens, and i dont get the same service with that as my manuscript

i would NEVER RECOMMEND RAIDERS TO ANYONE.

I am with another company called XLIBRIS and have had 3 other books published within the same time frame as Raiders. There editing is great and so is there service. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND XLIBRIS TO ANYONE.

So sad to see that there are many others out there that have spent money - lots of it - and not much has happened. I've had two books published with Raider and am so disillusioned and sad that I will be finding another publisher for my third book and also ask that the contracts for the first two be reversed as I am not a happy author!

I have also experienced the exact same issues as you. It was as though you were writing this on behalf of me. I waited nearly eighteen months and many, many emails later, which like you, were not answered for weeks. I too was not notified that my novel had been released, and like you there are many spelling errors Grrrrr. I am still waiting for my free copies which they assure me they are following up on why I have not received them and that was three months ago. I am seriously thinking of taking legal action because I too believe my reputation as a writer is now damaged by Raiders sloppy, shameful work and I will never again go with Raiders.

When I read the above think these are probably very much exeptions. For all their books they offer a great service for writers they accept. They profession wise adjust writing mistakes and they give considerable advice on the use of words and sentences.
Above all I get 51% royalties so what's left for the publisher is there for we paid a prices.

For my book they have shown patience because I was not ready writing it aldo. Basicly they have invested a lott of hussle to get my book to the stage of press releases.

Above all they have books on their shelves what are not just any writers or literary agencies their pragmatic choice.

A criticism I have is about my first personal assistent. He hardly replied my questions and requests and if he answered them the answers were unprofessional. But for some reason he was 'out of office' and I enjoyed then a lovely charming precise and fast personal assistent what worked on formatting the work.

After all I am saticfied of my work and I know it will sell. In my book I wrote 'those whom want the book but not having the budget to purchase a copy I stimulate to get a free copy on the internet.'
No problem for RPI.
And there is more, RPI is allowing me the get my translations rights back from them to persue a literary agency specialized in selling translation rights, if I get accepted.
No problem for RPI.

All by all I think it is a good advice to communicate to them, follow their leads, and deliver a good book, together.

After all not bad by me, and they love my book.

Friend of mine, sent his manuscript to a highly respected community member 1 year 3 months ago. recently asked her for samples of the editing requesting a few chapters. She has not completed not one page. friend is afraid to ask her to cease all editiing work. i do not see a problem with asking her to cease all work. If anything she may charge for 1 page of poor editing work. Right, i need answers, please...
