Found this gem on craigslist while looking for some work. He contacted me asking me to go mow some yards and take photos at each property, he said I'd be paid in about 3 weeks. Not only did I spend money on gas, I had to hire a sitter for my 2 kids, I spent an entire day going to these properties, taking photos, mowing lawns and then typing up invoices and sending compliance photos... all for NOTHING! His number is now disconnected and he's not replying to any emails. I contacted the Realtor for one of the properties and they are going to forward my info on to the bank. Just a word of caution - if you are hired to do any sort of property restoration work, ensure there is a contractor's agreement in place. All the legit companies I've worked for usually request proof of insurance, a W9 and have a ton of hoops for you to jump through. It's a real bummer that people like this exist. He's making money without having to pay a cent out of pocket.... The more I think about it the more annoyed I am about this, what a punk!
