Scientific Wrestling Jake Shannon Company pays SEO company to have truthful information about the company and its founder buried in search engine resu
26th of Dec, 2010 by User100346
Scientific Wrestling and its founder, Jake Shannon, have engaged in a number of dubious online activities, from "certifications" for sham wrestling instruction to certification for hypnotism / hypnotherapy. Shannon has, over the course of several years, set up a number of internet companies, billing himself as everything from an autodidact and Human Rights investigator to an expert in Meta-Cognition, Mnemonics, and Expertise Acquisition.

For years, Jake Shannon and Scientific Wrestling kept libelous material about his competitors high in search engine results; he began rewriting the material to avoid legal action, but the damage had already been done. Shannon's entire business -- and in fact his entire supposed expertise in catch wrestling and other areas -- is built on shady and unscrupulous internet marketing strategems.

About a year back, I wrote a piece that tied together all Shannon's and Scientific Wrestling's related businesses, including the fact that Scientific Wrestling's head of certification had been found to have completely invented his background and training. That piece was frequently referenced and placed high in Google search results, thanks in large part to the site's popularity.

Furthermore, I brought to light, in additional postings, Shannon's peddling of other products -- and the way he was stringing together multiple websites and backfeeding links in order to create a web presence that made his various companies look legitimate. You can read more about that here: http://proteinwisdom.com/?p=16887

Recently -- and this is really the source of this complaint -- I was alerted that Jake Shannon had paid an outside search engine optimization company to have my writings about his companies and their unscrupulous business practices buried in search engine results. That is, he was paying to have the truth buried. Often this is accomplished by what is called "black hat" operations -- from posting privileged info on a site surreptitiously (either by hacking the code, or through old comment forms, etc.) and then reporting that site for violations, to other unsavory means of creating a violation, then reporting that same violation to the search engines in order to punish the site you are hoping to devalue in the search results.

Jake Shannon paid a company called Ethane Technologies, whom he contracted through Elance (a freelancer site), to devalue links to accurate information and accounting about his various "businesses" so as to keep consumers from finding out about his companies, how they operate, and how dishonest have been his business practices.

The bottom line is this: Scientific Wrestling and Jake Shannon don't want consumers to know that Mr Shannon has no real training in any of the things he sells; that he has employed admitted frauds to hand out certifications that he sells; that he has built his entire business front on dishonest internet marketing and dubious claims to expertise he does not possess; and that he is now paying search engine optimization companies to have the facts about all of this buried from public view.

Jake Shannon is a modern-day snake oil salesman. Scientific Wrestling was built on lies and the sabotaging of legitimate competitors. That Jake Shannon is willing to pay to keep you from knowing the truth about him should tell you all you need to know about both is character and his organization(s) legitimacy -- from his claims to make you into a world class "scientific wrestler" to his claims that he can help you achieve a better orgasm, or control people with your minds.
