SkySail Ranch
SkySail Ranch Jim and Laurie Grigsby Misrepresentation of a horse for sale Medford, Oregon
4th of Jun, 2011 by User954879
Bought a Missouri Fox Trotter horse from Jim and Laurie Grigsby. They had him on Dreamhorse as being a VERY calm, non-spooky trail horse that was a search and rescue prospect, husband and child safe. After talking with Laurie over e-mails, and on the phone, decided to go and see the horse, as she told me she had two other people looking at him. We rode him where they told us to on the property, after she rode him, and he was fine. She did have to give him grain to get him in the trailer, but she told us that he knew something was up, and this was just reassurance for him. We brought him home, and he was OK to ride in the arena, and on our property by me. The fifth day, he was very spooky. He broke his halter in two places when he was tied up while saddling. The sixth day was worse, and everyday thereafter. When I called Jim and Laurie to let them know that there was a problem with this horse, Laurie told me that it had only been 2 weeks, and to give it 30 days. She also told me to take him off all proteins. This had no bearing on him at all, and he continued to spook to the point of being dangerous. I was able to ride him in the arena, and nowhere else as he was too spooky. He also did not have the smooth gates that they advertised, only a flat walk. I was able to get him into a fox trot, but to keep him in it was near to impossible. When I asked them questions, Laurie literally stopped all communication, and Jim became very agitated. They lied to us on all accounts, we paid full price for the horse, and he was not what they said he was. We have had experts look at this horse, and we have all concluded that this horse was most likely drugged for sale. When we called to let them know that is what not working out, and he was not what we paid for, and was misrepresented, Jim told us that he would not take him back, and they did not want him back. Then he accused us of making the horse this way. Anyone who knows horses knows this is something you can't do to a calm horse of search and rescue quality in two weeks, or even a month. I would not buy anything from them, or sell anything to them. They are not good people, and did not tell the truth.
