I was blatantly taken advantage of by this company. It's a she said, they said situation with them telling me I'm bound by their shady contract. The customer service rep that was dealing with my complaint was an attorney and said I didnt have a leg to stand on. I would like to be compensated for the time these two movers wasted. At $80 and hour and being told that their movers are licensed and bonded, you expect them to perform a move as quickly as and reasonably as possible. They took way longer to move me then quoted. I found out later that their movers are not licensed and bonded. When I called Starving Students movers, the gentleman booking my move asked me what furniture I had and the number of boxes I had. I specified each piece of furniture and the exact number of boxes that I had. When I asked him approximately how long the move would take, he quoted between 4-5 hours. This seemed reasonable seeing as my old building has an elevator, I was only moving 4 miles away and my previous move with the exact same amount of belongs took about that same time. The day of the move, they arrived at 8:45 am and wasted about 20 minutes having me fill out the paperwork/contracts. This seemed kind of odd to me as the move hadn't even happened yet. How was I to know if I was happy with the move until it is completed? The two movers would take down each load together, rather then each taking a separate load, and then they would disappear for 20 minutes. At $80 per hour I wanted to say something about this and ask them to speed it up, but I was afraid if I said anything, they would move even slower in retaliation. The "Head Mover" had a very domineering personality that I noticed right off the bat. The move was taking so unreasonably long, that by the time we made it to my new place, I told them that I wanted them to leave my boxes in the garage and to only take up my furniture. I was not going to allow them to stretch out my move any longer then they all ready had. I gasped at the total but had to pay or they said they would put everything back on the truck. My move ended up costing me almost $900.00. Do not use Starving Students for you move unless you want to get ripped off. You are much better off going with a more expensive, reputable moving company. It will cost you less in the end. |
