Stormhaven Farms
Stormhaven Farms Susan Bates Horse seller misrepresents horse in advertising Caldwell, Idaho
24th of Feb, 2011 by User868236
Susan has a Craigslist Ad for a horse that I owned at one time. This is the Ad: 16-year-young tobiano paint gelding, 14.3 hands, very gentle disposition and has been on trails, used for beginner lessons, and has been trained in dressage and more. Rex is a real sweetheart and very good about being groomed, trimmed, loaded, and ridden - no buck. When I owned the horse, I rode him often but knew he was very spooky. He was easily excited, needed to be worked hard because he was high energy, and very flighty. He was very sensitive and bucked when he got scared. Characteristic of a spooky horse, he had an "upside down" neck because the underside of the muscle was over developed from throwing his head in the air often. I had him trained for 90 days by one the premier trainers in the area and when he was done, had chiropractics done, teeth done, and had a saddle custom made for the horse's back. The trainer's assessment was the horse was a good horse, but very high energy and needed to be worked every day. Since I wasn't able to ride every day, I had the horse go to stay somewhere else where he stayed 2 months until he was sold. A friend saw the ad and called to get information because she recognized the horse. Susan admitted that she never had the horse out of the arena and that he was spooky. She assumed ownership of the horse when the person to whom I had sold the the horse failed to pay for boarding. Susan never met me or knew anything about the horse's background. She made claims that the previous owner (me) didn't know how to ride, had left the horse sitting in a muddy stall for two years and was an abusive rider. She claimed the horse had never been trained until she got him and he was a perfect horse now. My friend told me about Susan's claims so I went out to see the horse. I didn't say anything about my friend's conversation. I called and requested permission to see the horse to see if he had really changed. I identified who I was and said I just wanted to see how he was doing but was not interested in buying him. She said that was fine. When I went out, she pointed out the horse and I went over to see him. I could tell immediately that he had not changed. He was still very high headed a spooked at the sound of a combine in another field while I was looking him over. Susan had a friend that came over and verbally abused me and literally ran me off the property. She stood and watched. Susan is lying about this horse, his background, and probably a lot of other things about this horse. He is spooky, dangerous, and should not be ridden by a beginner rider outside of an arena or without guidance. She admitted she had never had him on the trails. He is very spooky on trails and would hurt someone who was not a very experienced rider. Susan and her friend are very odd and with the experience I had, I can't recommend anything she does to anyone.
