Tom Harmer is a standardbred trainer that has abused owners for many years. Mr. Harmer manages the horses as if they were his investment and not the owner of the horse who pays all of the bills. He has RIPPED OFF many owners thru the years and is very good at it. Tom Harmer has now been accused of forging titles to racehorses, forging the signature of standardbred owners on checks and additional titles and anything that requires the title to be executed. He also has several lawsuits pending that accuse Mr. Harmer of false billing. Preliminary reports state that Mr. Harmer may have inflated these invoices by the millions. Over the last few months Thomas Harmer confided that he has been ripping off owners for many years. He has submitted fraudulant bills to owners with false totals and subtotals. Recently, it was proven that Tom Harmer has routinely inflated invoices to the owners in order to generate more fees to himself. Until recently he never admitted to anyone regarding the fraudulant inflated cost for veterinarians, blacksmiths, workmen's compensation. he now admits that he has and does inflate invoices to benefit himself! Whatever the invoices were---- Mr. Harmer would increase the invoices to raise the cash flow to himself. As example could be stall rent, inflated vet charges, inflated shipping charges, etc. and by falsely inflating the charges he in fact increases his profit. Furthermore, Harmer has and does refuse to confirm the invoices with backup invoices. Please recall, Harmer never supplied receipted invoices for the patrons of his racing stable. Harmer has hurt many Americans and lied about the cost associated with horse racing. Usually, Harmer would increase the summary bill without substantiation to the rightful owner of these horses. He always would advise the owner that he would supply the itemized invoice upon request. Unfortunately, that was another one of the Harmer lies. It has taken one owner over six years and they have yet to recieve any documentation. Unfortunately, for the owner there now appears to be millions in over charges and false charges. Every time Tom Harmer mails out a false invoice, that is another mail fraud charge pending. Tom Harmer has forged in excess of 200 purse checks without the permission of one owner in particular. This owner is very well respected and has owned over 100 horses. At one time Mr. Tom Harmer charged as high as $1500 per stall per month when the price should have been $100 per month. This particular owner deserves better. You ask, how can someone forge over 200 purse checks? Please recall, that Mr. Harmer is very smooth and can easily sway folks into believing him. The problem is that the owners lose so much of their investment before they discover the truth regarding the horse. Mr. Harmer fails to fulfill his fiduciary responsibility to these unsuspecting owners who pays the bills. The fact is that Tom Harmer has charged unsuspecting owners a over inflated rate for horses that are too lame to even train. There is at least three new lawsuits pending against Mr. Tom Harmer . They have similar mo's since he came in and stole from these folks. Eventually, Mr. Harmer will be caught and he will have serious issues to deal with in the court system. These lawsuits claim that there are damages in excess of millions of dollars. What do you do with a horse trainer that:
1. lies
2. cheats
3. commits forgery: forged over 200+ purse checks and various titles to horses!
4. commits fraud:
5. fails in his fiduciary responsibility to the owner: Looks out for himself only!
6. creates false garage sales in order to unjustly enrich himself
7. sells horses that are not his to sell
8. over inflates training bills: Every mailed invoice is mail fraud!
9. overinflates vet bills : Same
10.overinflates blacksmith bills: Same
11.lies regarding the training status of a horse in order to generate training bills: Many times!!!!
12.lies while under oath: recently committed perjury!
13.manipulates systems to benefit himself and hurt the owner There is no place in racing or for that matter in business for a man like Tom Harmer that has no code of ethics or morals. Racing is at an all time low and trainers like Mr. Tom Harmer has hurt the sport and the sport has lost thousands of owners due to these types of frauds! Please be cautious in this industry since these types of frauds take place on a daily basis. Get a contract signed by the trainer. Get the charges and cost in writing before you hire a trainer. Stay on top of your investment! Be a hands on owner because remember it is your money-----not the trainer! Every trainer is not a Tom Harmer! There are very good ones but do your homework! |
